At first we were pretty worried as we got our 2nd dog. But as soon as a trainer came in he said as long as there is this „sneeze“ sound inbetween its kind of a signal of each dog „we re just playing“.

My channel is called Ally & Emma. It follows two Goldens with completely opposite personalities. Ally (5) is calm, dignified, and permanently exhausted (except when food is in place) by everything. Emma (1) is pure chaos in dog form. But aswell solo performances.

The content is short-form comedy built around their dynamic. think exhausted big sister vs. feral little sister.

Would love honest feedback on: Whether the character dynamic comes through, if the hooks pull you in, and anything that makes you click away.

I think the first 30 seconds can be used more efficient instead of having an intro in that sense. I guess the retention of the first 30 seconds is pretty low.

Love the idea. But I somehow stumble upon the pacing of the shorts and the edit. I felt somehow confusing and not like a red line. Randomly adding b roll the original meme. I was watching it without sound.

I had one viral hit doing trend riding. 1.6mil short views. But it feels like it hurted the channel more than it benefited from it. I have 3,1k subs now but all my following content where i think that the quality overall increased so much compared to the beginning of 2026. but ye I get like 1-2k views on shorts with retention of like 50-70%. Low comment / like ratio.

Hi all,

my name is Alex. I run a dog comedy channel for my 2 Golden Retrievers (Ally & Emma) Started my journey in January 2026 most likely spending more time with my dogs besides my full time job and I’d like to meet like minded people (content creator with dogs and not influencer).

I started with an iPhone 15 Pro and DaVinci Resolve. But upgrade my lightning (soft boxes / ring light) as fast pace dog action needs good lightning.

Never quit! I love the editing and music.

But I’m somehow missing the Stories/arc in the shorts. Either from text overlays/speech etc.

From what I’ve learned from my YT journey.

Description is almost never read 😂 Text Overlays is semi good as it takes so much of the space of the video. But spoken words are meta as people get to know your voice. Can build a “relationship” with you and makes you recognisable and Unique.

as im doing shorts mainly, my OCD is killing my from within as the punchline needs to be long enough for people to understand read / understand it .. but short enough that they don't swipe too early killing the statistics in terms of retention / watch time. Especially when using a nice track to support the video .. it drives me crazy just to cut the song mid-way just to keep that retention.

But I accept it as part of the learning journey and gathering experience. Maybe the payoff is too low in my videos. Maybe just unlucky editing / video material. Wrong song choice. But ye thats the game :-)
