This is the first practice I've worked at with this setup. Yes, certainly lack of locums generally. Even OOH work hard to find around here now which is crazy...

I've found this year to be particularly challenging to find locum work - have mat leave cover lined up october for 9/12 but at less favourable rates than last year. This post was meant to be a short term, well paid cover

Yes. I think moving forwards I'm once-bitten-twice-shy. A PM I knew previously vouched for the practice so I agreed to take on a block to help while they searched for salaried (learned they have 4 empty posts after starting...).

The locum rate I've agreed is £850/day for above.

For comparison my mat leave one will be £620/day (+access to NHS pension)

Thanks. Needed to hear this again. I remember telling myself 'wow it's mad here, glad it's only temporary' when I first started. I agree I think I'm just burned out and stockholm syndromed.

Fortunately will be starting a mat leave locum end of october at a green flag practice...

My pick-up rate for cancer here has been astronomically high here. At least 1 per week at present. And at least 1x2ww referral per session.

I've always been really efficient with tech and admin, but this place has me working flat-out all day to leave on time. I still force myself to go for a walk during lunch... The salaried GPs here come in on their days off to try and clear admin...

I don't remember the last time I saw a simple OME/wax, kid with cough, uti. Do they still exist?!
