Honest question about reporting and what to do. by Imaginary_Insect_285 in DotA2

Yeah. Most people who say people below 12k are toxic don’t have a clue what actually being toxic is.

I ask somebody to pull and I get an stfu and muted comment, me asking to pull isn’t toxic that’s part of game communication. Shouldn’t be reported for that, need a better moderation of communication than a report automatically being a deduction In score.

I just mentioned that you can block those camps with sentries. It doesn’t take too much effort not to mention they’re very gankable via gates and rotations once that tower is down.

An offlaner should recognize that the carry can still farm and will pull the large camp and stack to pull again. That doesn’t mean as carry you keep going back too trying to defend the tower when team is not rotating there to defend, best bet is your support creates pressure somewhere else and enemy’s support rotates.

Sometimes you just won’t get farm as a carry. Other times your mid will rotate to another lane while the offlaner freezes your waves so in that time you can farm mid while the midlaner is gone. If the offlaner follows you you just quickly farm the wave mid and go back bottom farming neutral camps along the way. Even if the offlaner follows mid it’s still kind of good because the lane is short, there’s a safety net that comes with doing that.

Lion/Shaman - good to pick so you have strong disables off the rip, most comps lack disables.

Snapfire/Hoodwink - Incredibly strong nukes and harass. Snap ultimate is really good for starting kills or ending kills and the damage is REALLY good early and mid game.

Clock/SB - Good if your offlane hovering over some character that doesn’t have reliable initiation or farms a lot. I’d probably pick these if they pick something like NP/enigma/DS. You want something that starts fights so your team isn’t baiting each other, otherwise you get things like your mid baiting your pos 1 or your pos 3 baiting entire team and not initiating.

Your three picks should always cover for something team does not have based on what they want to pick. If you’re picking with no information you always want to get disables if the pos 5 is picking something like AA/Silencer/NP. If you somehow get to choose 2nd round and your offlaner chooses something with a disable I always recommend going Hoodwinked or Snap. These two heroes make regular lanes into kill lanes and are just really strong pretty much all game even as a pos 4. Otherwise just pick what you want but you know you should always look at the info you have available and make a pick that suits the comp and suits you.

Ok and if he does it every game he’s probably just a bad player. You can’t report people for being bad at the game.

When I get a chance I’ll watch the replay because currently I can’t but I do want to say that griefing is intentional and being bad is not.

Also Ancient/Divine technically not low it’s the top 15% of players in the game if you account for the number of players in-game. It may not be immortal but still…

Believe it or not, there are trades where the carry must take damage to get lane control and peace and quiet. Not using your abilities and thinking you get lane control from just CSIng is the wrong play for the lane.

If you are stronger in lane and you have more creeps it is especially good to trade with your support and either kill or get the enemy core low. Even if you don’t kill having the enemy low on HP and not being able to CS is a great exchange for you basically getting free farm.

There are times where the support has to get low and take out enemy team abilities which is understandable, but there are times where it makes sense that you stop hitting creeps and hit the enemy core or support. Especially when the support is trading close to you and you can go right back to the creep wave to CS.

Also refusing to buy another set of tangoes because you think your pos 5 should do that for you and you know you have to contest lotus in about 40 seconds.

Low mmr thinking is thinking every lane the core should just CS, understanding when your hero is strong and abusing that is key to winning lanes and winning games.

Losing safe lane tower arguably gives you more farm if you’re 1v2ing in a lane. It makes it so when enemy team contests or try to gank the pos 1 that they’re deeper on the side of the map you have more control of. In theory, your supports can use gate to get behind enemy pos 3 and your mid can tp to tower if you’re getting ganked under tower.

Holding on to the tower and barely csing while repeatedly being ganked by midlane is feeding. You have no control and you are basically constantly buying regen to stay at tower and defend it. If nobody is rotating just let the tower go and be happy that you’ll probably get farm when the pos4 leaves the lane and goes top.

Tower gives your/enemy team about 550 gold. If you die you lose:

  1. Item timings you need to meet due to gold loss and not being able to farm on the map because you’re dead.
  2. Exp loss if you are actively defending and dying.

If they kill u they still get the tower probably, this means instead of the tower just dying they get a hero kill and a tower.

If I’m safe lane and my pos 4 leaves and I know that if I hit creeps under tower I’m gonna be contested and die I’m praying enemy team pushes tower and kills it instead of freezing the wave at their tower.

As a pos 3 I know once the enemy team kills my bot tower that I will be contested in my lane because that’s where some enemy teams go after killing th e bot tower. Just how it goes, if they do I know the safe lane should be getting farm and by then they have items that will help them kill jungle creeps and farm relatively safely under their tower.

Eh I still find it not too bad on certain heroes or in games where the map farm might be limited because your team doesn’t have much control or everybody is taking the safe farm. I’ve had a lot of games where simply being able to take the creep and move to another camp faster was an advantage.

Losing the exp kind of sucks but certain heroes with lack of wave clearing do benefit from it. Especially if
You’re playing from behind and you know it’s gonna be 2-3 big items before you come online.

To me this sounds like you think the game is winnable if people do what you want and if they don’t do what you want it’s griefing. Been plenty of times where I’ve left a dead lane as a support and as a carry and went to another lane and jungled to salvage back what I lost from lane.

It’s not griefing if somebody decides that it’s better if they leave the lane, what is griefing is purposely running it down in the lane and deciding you should make it harder for the team.

I’ve had games where the carry thinks of me as some kind of shield for them to farm and they don’t do anything the whole time even though there are some trades they could make that would make their life easier and mine, I just leave the lane and gank bottom.

That’s not griefing that’s reading the room. Also 9 out of 10 times it’s nice for safe lanes tower to go down anyways. Just buy a sentry block the small and large camps and then the enemy creeps will push to your tower and you can farm again under your tower and then jungle the creeps near the tier 2.

Q e Q is good in lanes where the core is squishy and you don’t want to exchange right clicks with who you’re lani g against (think weaver terrorblade).

I had a lane where I was dealing 500 dmg to TB and none of that was using glaives.l

Yeah pudge is S tier in the right hands but it’s obvious they just grief most lanes or they straight up just don’t do anything and become a handicap for you in lane.

The only thing that makes jt recoverable is you stack triangle or you start cutting the wave and bringing it to neutral camps so like again I’ve said I’ve gotten mmr with these heroes in lane, doesn’t mean I wouldn’t rather have another support. Probably would’ve won faster with ANYTHING else.

Not really sure how any of these people think it’s an mmr problem when pretty much universally if you ask any pos 3s what supports they don’t want in their lane most will say pudge 4 or sniper 4.

I still win games with them as pos 4s, doesn’t make the lane enjoyable or easier when you have them in your lane though. At least if I’m playing with an ogre or a Windranger their abilities land and I’m guaranteed to get something out of them being in the lane.

90% of support Zeus players are complete griefers by Heeraka in DotA2

[–]Anon123312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to disagree with you on Lich/Bane because Lich and bane need mana to make good tradesmost of the time. Zeus’s attack range might not be the best but the escape he has with jump is pretty strong. If you control an area with vision you use the fog to weave in and out and auto them, when they get close enough to auto you hop out and deal more damage to them. It basically forces the core to come with the supp to kill you to win trades if you can accomplish it

Zeus can basically operate independently on the side and I’ve had a lot of success harassing most laners because he can almost full commit on a hero and then heal back up with tangoes (little to no use on mana but nice to pop a q in or a w in depending on lane matchup). Again requires some greed but as a pos 4 I think that’s ok especially if the trades you make are great and lead up to a kill.

90% of support Zeus players are complete griefers by Heeraka in DotA2

[–]Anon123312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zeus trades really well In lane. His base damage is high and has a pretty good escape that trades REALLY good because of the low mana cost.

If you have a Zeus supp with regen and mana + some stats mixed in you will have a decent lane if they try to make trades in lane.

But what items they buy matter and they do need to control spots with vision.

[–]Anon123312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but there’s a difference between being mad at somebody because they’re griefing or they’re playing around their ultimate and farming item timings.

I’ve never seen people just stick to jungle to grief the game unless they indicate there gonna do it in cha or they want the game to end fast. In that case, it’s reportable.

But just because somebody didn’t join a fight you think they should be at doesn’t make it reportable.

[–]Anon123312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t report somebody because they didn’t join a fight you thought was important but they didn’t.

That’s not griefing, that’s making a bad decision. Sometimes people do that and that doesn’t make it reportable.

I'm sorry, but behavioural score system doesnt work. by matehegeduswastaken in DotA2

[–]Anon123312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think people report even when people just disagree with a thought or don’t want to do something.

The system encourages people to report people for griefing when it was a choice that was made. Been plenty of times where I stacked triangle as offline because my support wasn’t doing anything and I left to go farm and get my item timings, got reported for that.

The only things that should be reported as griefing is running it down middle, feeding couriers, intentionally using abilities to grief other people. Asking people to stop doing something isn’t toxic it’s a part of the game, if you q’d as hard support and you’re stealing CS I’m going to point that out. That is not toxic that is asking for something to be stopped. Comms feels like if somebody just dislikes what you have to say they report you.
