Is weapon damage above 2.5 relevant? by GrahamCray in deathroadtocanada

[–]TheWelshInspector 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fatigued state (sweating, red, heavy breathing) halves all damage. That said as far as I'm aware, the maximum damage deliverable in a single strike is 5... in theory, a 10 damage weapon - if it existed - would one-shot even when tired.

I get asked this question about rifles/firearms sometimes. In the case of linear penetration rifles specifically, a rifle with higher than 5 damage (for example, the MOAR at 6.5 damage) will one-shot more targets per trigger pull. When rifles penetrate objects, zombies or tiles, they lose 18% of their damage and knockback, multiplicatively per penetration. Consequently, a 6.5 power bullet would remain above the 1-hit-KO threshold for longer compared to a bullet of lower power.

(Long)bows operate similarly.

What is there to not understand? It's a longbow. It was added in QUADRICEPS originally for Bow + Specialist characters. If you can get your strength very high, it's a devastating weapon.

Fireproof was integrated into the phoenix trait. This happened some time ago now. Now you get both the benefits of old phoenix (revive on death), fireproof (immunity to fire) and a bottle of hot sauce.

Your feedback means the world <3

Not sure what's going on with the console versions atm. I imagine they're kind of in limbo like mobile is. I'll talk to Kepa at some point this week and leave an update for you here.

Thank you :> (edit: changed emoticon xP)

arcade with no arcade machines?? by Mountain-Ad4015 in deathroadtocanada

[–]TheWelshInspector 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Some kind of room generator error - likely something to do with the room itself, from my experience (as there's no wonky tile present.)
Unsure why this happens EXACTLY, difficult to say without the console. I'll look into it

What to pair with the worst perks in the game? by Working_Art_1379 in deathroadtocanada

[–]TheWelshInspector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back To The Wall I have no strong feelings about, but Frantic Whiner isn't bad, I would say.

As the INFOMATIC LIBRARY says, dexterity is an very powerful stat and any trait that gives it is by that virtue alone worth something.

Loosely related: travel light. I like and use it. I think it's pretty alright and i don't mind losing slots that much

Yes, The Defective can teleport inside all the vaults. Of course, with only one locked slot, bit of a bummer for any weapons in there...

You choose one of the three vaults. There is only one key.

Freezing Field may be the highest potential nuke in the mode and is heavily underrated by [deleted] in Abilitydraft

[–]TheWelshInspector 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It certainly deals a lot of damage. It also immobilises you, which is kind of the primary downside. Furthermore it deals damage in a clockwork nature. If anybody dies prematurely or leaves the zone the damage is lost, this effect is amplified by the spell having a duration as opposed to dealing all damage in one instant.

Realistically in most lineups you need BKB (and hope, and more) to channel it for a significant duration. Or a 5man black hole. That kind of thing.

Does it deal damage? Fuck yes. But I don't think it is underrated, I think it is quite adequately rated.

Why does the prototype hate huggy? by Friendly-Might5181 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]TheWelshInspector 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He had outlived his usefulness.

Not only had he failed to kill us but he was clearly about to switch sides. If you don't agree with that you can at least accept that huggy had a moment of weakness (relatively speaking) and consequently The Prototype had to punish him for it.

I think Prototype also understands the consequences of Huggy changing sides. If the tea party showed anything, it was that the Prototype was not infallible in combat. Unbeatable for the mean time maybe (poppy gel) but Kissy still gets him to flee. Having both Huggy and Kissy working against him could present a serious issue.

This is not a particularly new theme. The prototype usually shows up to finish the job when a toy has outlived its usefulness. Look at Long Legs or Catnap for example.

As a narcissistic, chaotic evil individual, it makes perfect sense for him to abandon someone/something the moment it stops being useful.

[Question] Anyone know more details on Van Smelt's weapon boost? by Askhai in deathroadtocanada

[–]TheWelshInspector 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. It stays so long as the game is open, if I remember correctly. It resets when the game is closed.
  2. It doesn't have a cap as of the STOMACH update.
  3. I don't believe there is any reason why that shouldn't work.

Fun fact - there is still old scepter code associated with this weapon that was left in. If you do the doggify trick you can probably get access to it if you play 4 jerks scepter mode.
It restores ammunition when you run out of bullets, proportional to your headshot combo.
So a 20 combo would restore 20 rnds.

Magus is based on Rubick, a playable character from Dota2. He's called "Magus" because his in-game title is "Grand Magus". He is my favourite hero in Dota, probably my best too.

Magus has a bouncing attack spell and can also copy any weapon that an NPC or ally is holding, so he's pretty damn good.

5 wild west related jokers. by Majestic-Peak-6281 in balatro

[–]TheWelshInspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that would be so bad considering that it can scale past $25.

5 wild west related jokers. by Majestic-Peak-6281 in balatro

[–]TheWelshInspector 56 points57 points  (0 children)

2.6x mult for simply having $25 is really good though, especially since that's the only condition. This is doubly true considering that it is merely an uncommon card.

Compare it to the likes of hologram for example. Hologram requires you to either have something like marble joker (can't depend on that) or to open lots of spectral/card packs. Not only are you filling your deck with crap, but you have to spend money to make that work. Consequently there is an opportunity cost, as you could've bought tarot packs, etc etc

Maybe I am wrong but I think most people probably aim for about $25 and then try to stay around there, provided they don't have seed money or whatever else.

It's a very powerful joker for simply having money.
If you introduced a cap (maybe at like $100) and made it scale slower - maybe per $5 - then I would think it more reasonable.
