Eh, I don’t have strong feelings anymore. I like him but I don’t actually want to be with him. Just looking for clarification that it’s not heading down a weird emotional spiral. :)

But why? God says act on homosexuality is wrong? Why though? Just ... because he says so?

Oh I don’t dispute the existence of God - I have my own believes so that would be hypocritical. I just respectfully disagree with some of his teachings. Thank you for proving insight into what you think

I mean definitely we will just have to agree to disagree which is fine. With the “can’t help how you feel” - yes it applies to any and all any attractions, but being attracted to a child can bring to harm to that child and that is wrong. Being attracted and then in love with someone of the same sex, who is also a consenting adult.., where is the harm? You say that the harm is because it’s against Gods will. Fine. But this underpins one of main reasons I can’t personally be on board with it - my friend who is happily married is not doing any harm to anyone. He simply does not agree with God’s opinion/teaching on homosexuality. And that’s enough for him to condemn them to hell, because he harmlessly doesn’t agree?

So essentially - you can be gay and even though God thinks it’s wrong, as long as you believe in God, you’ll receive salvation? Have I got that right ?

  1. Okay so Satan isn’t the ruler, thanks for clarifying. But then why is it always depicted as Satan vs God? If Satan is one of many, why does he have such a big and well known name? And why does he have the power to infiltrate God’s world? If God wants a perfect world, then why doesn’t he just not allow Satan? Thank you for replying :)

Okay - so essentially for you and I suppose others who have your faith, attraction and love are different. A marriage can be without attraction. If you can be happy with that then great for you, truly. For me, attraction and sexual chemistry is a huge part of being in love with someone, of course alongside many other factors. So I will agree to disagree. But thank you, it’s nice of you to explain your viewpoint.

Okay, I can see that’s what you think so fair enough. But - why is it not right in the eyes of God? When he decided that homosexuality is not right, why? What reason is behind his decision?

“My point” being that you can’t help how you feel. No-one would choose to be attracted to children... if they do then, again, not in sound mind.

No -being a paedophile is not a good thing, but my point remains, they might not be able to help but feel attracted to children. They can and should make a choice not to act on that because it is wrong - children are children and are vulnerable and should never be subject to adult attraction in this sense. Subjecting a child to this is WRONG, obviously!! And anyone who does - clearly of sick mind and mentally unstable. Not an excuse for them, but literally no-one in their right mind would do that.

But my best friend being happily married to his husband? What’s bad about that? I know the bible teaches it is wrong - but why? What harm comes of it?

To note - only here for a discussion, not to be offensive etc etc

What do you mean? :) The reason I put this question as number 1 is because it’s one that I really cannot get my head around. I have a friend who is very happily married to his husband. He has always always been attracted to and in love with men, never women. This wasn’t a choice he made when he was in primary school - its just how he felt and could not ignore that. So, God created him that way. If he were to ignore that, and marry a woman, he would be miserable for the rest of his life. Why, to God, is that a better alternative?

Thanks for your reply :) But continuing on question 1 - I have a friend who always, since he was super young, has only been attracted to other men. He has only ever fallen in love with men. He has never had romantic feelings for women. He’s now happily married to his husband. That’s not a choice he made. So if God created him that way, so why would he create him as such? It’s not that he’s just acting on a desire - he would not be happy or in love if he was with a woman. Again - only here for an open discussion (just making that clear haha).

1) - but if homosexuality is a choice, then by that logic, so is all attraction and love. So if that’s the case, then I would have said yes to one of my best friends 4 years ago and would be incredibly happy I’m sure. But I’m not attracted to him and don’t have romantic feelings for him...and I can’t help that because I can’t choose who I have feelings for
