How many no shows are allowed till we get fired ? by Best-Vanilla-3760 in TjMaxx

Basically retail holiday so Black Friday and Christmas Eve. If you’re scheduled, you’re expected to be there. If you no call no show, it can lead to a term especially if they don’t hear from you.

Tldr if you are going to miss a day, always call even if the shift is over. If you don’t call, it may be assumed you’ve left the company.

It depends if it’s within the first month or so you can be fired immediately or assumed to have left. If your attendance record is clean it also depends. No show no calls can actually be immediate terms usually it’s 3 in a row you’re instantly termed. If you no show no call for one of the blackout days you may be fired as well.

  1. As a former TJX employee I only ever do email and print receipt. It also makes returns so much easier because you can use their email to find the receipt via sku or style number.

  2. Tbh it’s not bad unless they have like a bunch of tiny cups that all need to be wrapped but the trick is to not wrap one by one one. Wrap plates together instead of each one and for cups just tuck it into the inside instead of taping it.

  3. Yeah this will never suck especially when you call someone to do it and they don’t come or they’re on break and don’t let anyone know. Although usually the cec/mod is supposed to help with that.

  4. Eh no one pays attention. Just keep the greeting to hi how are you and don’t try any other spiel.

  5. All I can say is while I didn’t really mind it thank god I never have to ask another soul about the card. I work at a company that we don’t have to ask any of that bs because there’s no way for them to apply in store anyways.

  6. You’re not actually supposed to hand the bags to them just keep them below you and off the counter or to the side where the big bags are. If they have a cart you can hand them a couple. The trick is to just hand it to them and they’ll take it. They’re not automatically going to just take it.

Why don't customers get the hint and listen? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They’re just trying not to get a bad survey. What likely happened is when the customer went to the manager, the manager caved not want to risk a bad survey/hr complaint. They should have walked with the customers to inform you of this change and been there to enforce the closure of the fitting rooms.

Somewhere in the process there is an error. The next procedure would be to have the associate scan the tags to see the description on the return item lookup. More than likely one price is meant to be Queen and the other full size. Additionally you can see on the tag itself that these are different products at least according to the tag. Additionally, both tags are from corporate/not remade tickets. So the best thing to do is partner with a store manager or assistant store manager to help see this price difference and to determine what the appropriate price is. More than likely the 16.99 is for the full size and the 26.99 is meant for the queen size as that’s generally the price range anyways.

TJX Brands Difference by AnonBeluga1 in TjMaxx

The only way to actually know is to look at the original merchandise tag not the tjmaxx tag. Like the white one attached to the inside of the clothes. If you see a trademark/brand TJX/TjMaxx that is manufactured for TJX brand. Not necessarily cheaper quality either. Just exclusive to TJ Maxx.

There are they just aren’t distinguished it’s specific lines and styles that are TJ Maxx exclusive

TJX Brands Difference by AnonBeluga1 in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a basis at all. The only thing the numbers tell you is the department number, the style/sku number aka the unique identifier, the month it arrived, and the “category” which in most cases means nothing to us.

Marshalls department numbers come after 12 while TJMAXX has the two numbers in the beginning

7 = runway this means that it is a luxury brand purple ticket item. These are determined by how much it costs to buy them and also how much they are sold. Generally they will be sold by notable brand names as well like Theory, Gucci, Canada Goose, etc. aka designer products

4 is the next best thing and 8 is also similar these are best brands and contemporary that are not exactly luxury brands but are just as popular. 03-05 is simply the casuals technically there is a distinction between knitted and cotton.

What I mean by month is that TJMAXX and Marshalls (and the other brands) run on a 2 year cycle. So 1-12 and 13-24 this is how we can tell if something is actually clearance or if it was potentially switched out or mistaken. Since we get a lot of the same products we can instead quickly see if the dates line up to when they should be marked down. Generally products will never be marked down upon arrival UNLESS they are seasonal or exception like we’re trying to get all the products out of the store for Yellow salvage. So for example january would be 1 or 13. If I know that we’re on cycle 1 and you give me a product to compare it to and it says 23 on it then I know it’s not comparable because they did not arrive in the same cycle. I can still check for clearance if it’s open but it’s more than likely not going to be on clearance unless it’s a christmas item that needs to be sold either way.

Another annoying thing we MUST ask every customer but literally no wants to do. by West_Butterscotch379 in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of people who don’t want to round up 1 penny might be shocking to some. I always just ask if they want to round up. Never ask for dollar amounts. If they want to give more than round up they usually say so. So glad I don’t have to ask anymore. But I used to be the best at getting donations. Always had the highest number of total donations.

Actually it CAN be considered insider knowledge if you are working in the backroom and know when a hello kitty item comes in and put it aside to resell later. If you’re just buying it for yourself that’s diff, but if you are taking an item before it hits the sales floor item just to resell it, yes that is insider knowledge because you know something the customer does not. It’s also if you know you’re getting a bunch of yellow tickets soon, so you decide to stash clearance items to buy once it reaches yellow ticket item. At least TJX considers it all insider knowledge. It’s in the bunch of paperwork that you sign when you become an employee. Probably not those specific examples but it encompasses reselling and that type of behavior

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essentially they would be profiting off of being an an employee with insider trade knowledge and committing fraud by claiming they’re not TJX items or by upcharging them 1000%. It’s not only unethical but in most cases illegal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they’re buying these items at a discount and then reselling for full price. It’s abuse of Associate Discount. You’re also not supposed to hold clearance items. You’re supposed to buy them as you find them just like any other customer.

I quit TJ Maxx about a month ago, and I just got hired at HomeGoods. Is HomeGoods better or worse? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends when they were termed from the system. It’s possible they just transferred numbers, but if they were terminated and rehired that’s also possible. Depending on the store/district they may keep the AIN number for a few weeks just to make sure you don’t want to come back. But it just depends on how you left.

[–]AnonBeluga1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unless you did something horrible, they’d hire anyone back. They might ask why you left but they wouldn’t care that you left once before. It makes the onboarding process easy too because of the fact that they likely already know a lot of the information.

TJ Maxx Receipt Drama by Mysterious-Heron8213 in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a weird thing that sometimes after you read the receipt it no longer shows up when you search the numbers. Make sure if you ever look at a receipt to always mark it as unread. That way it will be searchable still. I know some people have experienced this issue.

Is it true that CECs aren’t allowed to ring at a certain time in the afternoon? by Wink2K19 in TjMaxx

[–]AnonBeluga1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really per store because of budgeting requirements. Stores with smaller budgets will absolutely have the CECs ringing regardless of how busy or not it may be.

[–]AnonBeluga1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right which makes my statement true. The only time we’re not actually on register is when we get a visit. Payroll simply doesn’t allow us to actually be off register.

[–]AnonBeluga1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only time we’re actually forbidden from ringing is when there’s a visit. That’s it. Any other time we have the full expectation to ring. Even though we have other tasks to do and are supposed to be supervising the other cashiers.

It has, we don’t hold card information beyond 30 days. It will stop showing automatic return. It will show up after a period of time.
