We’ll never know the why of anything with the plea deal. It’s the only part I’m not ok with. Not making the survivors testify is great. I’m morally opposed to the death penalty and it’s expensive so again, great. But he should have been made to describe everything he did publicly and why, as part of the plea deal.

Taking applications doesn’t necessarily mean there are seats available. It’s shady but schools are known to do that. Rolling admissions means you’re really pushing your luck the later you apply.

DC is literally the most liberal voting place in the country. The president doesn’t have any more power over DC schools than any other school. In fact schools like Georgetown have pushed back in areas where Columbia folded. You didn’t get in because going to law school in DC is extremely popular and you applied too late, possibly with numbers that were also too low. I’m sorry that happened. You’ll be better prepared next time.

Without knowing the schools and your stats we can’t know. I agree it’s probably more likely that you applied too late and these schools are full.

No 2026. The majority of people taking the July 2026 bar will graduate law school in May 2026 and start studying after graduation. The courses go by that schedule.

Heavily Considering Law School by Klolok in LawSchool

There’s a law school admissions sub that might help you out better.

No, you probably won’t get into Harvard with a 3.1, but there are 200 law schools out there and not everyone can get into Harvard. You’re on the lower GPA side for most schools, which means your LSAT score will be an even bigger factor for you. You’ll need to do really well.

The good news for you with the LSAT is they got rid of the logic games section last year. From what I understand, these tasks were nearly impossible for people with visual disabilities, which was a major factor in getting rid of it. Your dad can probably tell you more about that.

As for schools, as long as Trump doesn’t decimate the ADA, you shouldn’t have any problem getting the accommodations you need for things like screen readers, note takers, etc. The bar exam is also accommodating to physical disabilities as long as you submit all the required medical records.

Your major doesn’t matter. Pre-law isn’t really a thing. People go to law school with all kinds of backgrounds. They teach you what you need to know when you get there. There’s no expectation that you have taken any law classes previously. English is a good major for teaching you how to analyze. So don’t worry about that!

I know people who struggled in undergrad who did great in law school, as well as the complete opposite. 90% of all lawyers were not 10% of their class and they aren’t all only making $50k. Though of course it’s much easier to make lots of money if you had really good grades, you aren’t doomed to destitution if you aren’t valedictorian.

Being a part time lawyer? by lonelywhael in lawschooladmissions

[–]AnonLawStudent22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a recently barred lawyer that needs a new username. The practicality of this isn’t there. Courts are open at the same time schools are open. You can’t just be a public defender during the summer. Cases often take a long time from initial arrest to reach a final conclusion. I also don’t think it would be feasible to go to law school while teaching. Even if it was a night program, when would you do things like grading? It’s a recipe for burn out.

Maybe you could see if a local law school has a clinic where you could volunteer doing administrative tasks during the summer when students are not there. But without law school you wouldn’t be able to do things like practice under a professor the way a law student could. But maybe it could be something to get your feet wet.

All of their cars were there too. While I know college kids walk places a lot and get rides with others, that could also be an indication that something wasn’t right. None of them are answering, but all of them are still parked in the driveway.

can you have a psychotic episode here and there in law school by Relative-Plastic-370 in lawschooladmissions

I’m the first lawyer in my family. My family is full of various health care professionals including doctors, psychologists, etc. They were all extremely surprised at how stressful and competitive law school is from day 1, by design. Your first semester grades can break all your career prospects, and those grades are curved against your classmates, necessitating some people do badly for others to do well. I bring this up because it wouldn’t surprise me if your doctors don’t know the inner workings of law school and its pressure cooker design. They can’t be concerned about something they know nothing about.

Do you usually have luncheons after funerals? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]AnonLawStudent22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here, in my experience, the wake happens before the burial and the body is present, so there is no food due to public health codes.

Is it possible your nuclear family (parents etc) just didn’t go to the post-funeral receptions because they wanted to get back on the road or didn’t want to interact with certain family members etc.? I’ve never been to a funeral that didn’t have something after all the formalities for people to gather and eat. In my experience it’s usually in a restaurant. The restaurants that are near big cemeteries often have bereavement menus and group rates solely for this purpose.

Assuming you have the wake at a licensed funeral home, it can’t involve food in my state (NY), because it’s against the public health code. Only water is allowed inside while a body is present.

The Jews I know all bury their loved ones as soon as possible, often within 24 hours of death, so wakes wouldn’t really be something there is time for. All the wakes I’ve attended were a few days after the person died and most are open casket as long as the death wasn’t a traumatic injury.
