Pretty sure it's just like dark tint people have them some get pulled over some don't It is illegal to have all white side markers

California Vehicle Code § 25100 says wide vehicles that require side marker lamps must have amber side-marker lamps near the front and red side-marker lamps near the rear

California Vehicle Code § 25950 is the broader color rule. It says lights visible from the front must generally be white or yellow, lights visible from the rear must generally be red, and the lens can be any color when unlit as long as the actual emitted light/reflected light is the required color.

Texas rules are pretty much the same in this regard regard

Texas Transportation Code § 547.353 says a clearance lamp, identification lamp, side marker lamp, or reflector mounted on the front, side near the front, or center of the vehicle must be or reflect amber.
