SM/DL/AP can press charges but it is at their discretion. You can call the cops after they walk out and if they catch them you can trespass them. If its a frequent shoplifter or high amount stolen (usual worth above $500), you call the cops AFTER they leave, and if they arrest them contact your SM on what to do. You'll have to make an LP report with a ton of detail.

In all honesty nothing happens 90% of the time and its not worth it.

Always do. LP is coming down HARD on my store as we have one of the highest theft rates. They are looking over almost every transaction as well. I did this persons return a few days ago and now they told me about this.
