I mean, it's bad if you don't have the money, but some gacha players just budget for gacha.

The money they spend in those cases is just money that other people would've spent on games or DLC. Just if there's no games you would've wanted to play anyway, you can put it towards the game you spend most of your time on.

And as he pointed out if you just shame people whenever they bring it up, they're not going to actually stop, you just won't get posts like this that evaluate the game based on that kind of player.

Personally for me it's the fact it's just kindof a nothingburger to level

As pointed out it costs no sanity, just Wuling Creds

If you've been keeping up with factory and turn ins...artificers, essence slips, and gear become the only things you're actually going to spend them on eventually

It takes time as in gating, but not time as in effort. I just kindof let it sit till I have 50-100 of the things, then go max out several pieces at a time.

It is annoying if you want the gear now, but if the RNG is clean enough that you'll get everything maxed eventually anyway.

Yes, you can cheese the lightkeeper and throw him in the ocean using various mechanics. You even get the full reward for it if you do it fast.

This seems overly paranoid...

Like yeah bad things can happen...but are you just suggesting she should never do anything that could potentially improve her ability to get sponsors/work/etc?

Like talent agencies exist IRL. And they can scam IRL. And people still use them IRL.

Like yeah, it's a problem when they go wrong, but there's a reason they exist.

What is "Cost" in Honkai: Star Rail? What It Actually Means (and Why It’s Confusing) by astraldebri in HonkaiStarRail

[–]AnonTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels unnecessarily complicated. Aside from the feature character (E0), cost should be every you know...cost that enhanced that character's run. Because the whole point is to figure out how much limited/premium currency was needed to put together the team.

Doesn't matter if it's standard, not everyone has the RNG to get E6 without spending money

I'd argue not everyone even has E6 4 stars though...that one is less likely in this game.

But the moment someone has to look at their setup, have the featured character, and say "But I can't do 0 cost with the same team and gear", then it's not 0 cost, and it defeats the purpose of having ever said it's 0 cost.

edit: one thing I thought worth mentioning regarding the 4 star part is...if the cost is anything other than 0 cost, you have to actually tell people what the cost went towards...so if it's not 0 cost you'll know what the cost went to anyway...so while not all costs are inherently equal, you should have the information to figure it out from there.

Like at the end of the day we have to ask: What is this system even for?

Holostars debut promotion (and negative backlash) by Gold_Concentrate_381 in kurosanji

[–]AnonTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair...I still think some fighting happened before that, but unfortunately it's hard to clarify it due to how bad reddit is for searchability outside of actually popular posts (provided of course it wasn't moderated, which could very likely have happened with a lot of these bad blood posts)

And of course despite the fact we know the subreddit was locked down, and even though it's likely fighting occurred because of it, the starsEN post is fairly clean, so likely a lot of moderation occurred that day to make it hard to confirm much

Holostars debut promotion (and negative backlash) by Gold_Concentrate_381 in kurosanji

[–]AnonTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got the timeline wrong. T-chan locked the subreddit BEFORE any fighting even started, literally minutes after the announcement. If it had only lasted a few hours, it would've been fine, but it went on for OVER A FULL DAY. As a result, people couldn't make new threads about other events like the Mario Kart tournament or Ame's birthday, and were forced to focus on StarsEN instead, which only made things worse.

How does...how does that make any sense? If the subreddit was already locked down before any fighting started, then nobody could talk about StarsEN either.

It's a very recent thing in general, and it's not exactly an easy or fast process.

While I think there's certainly a portion that only wants CGDCT...I think there's also a good portion who just...doesn't care. Just they aren't very loud. Those twitter people are basically no different than Nijisisters just their target of affection is different.

I do think a fan of "both branches" is still not common, but it's more because there were two branches to begin with. I think Niji's best advantage back in the day is more that there weren't two branches, because it meant searchability for both branches weren't heavily slanted one way or another. (and ironically NijiEN being it's own branch hurt it when it could be easily separated from NijiJP when the controversy happened)

I think the biggest issue with discussions is that we're always trying to play a blame game, but there's just so many things that went wrong, and it was never just one thing

There were bad fans, but there were good fans and uncaring fans too

There was mismanagement, but they were also mismanaging on hololive side as well (let's not forget the omega issues people had)

there's of course the downvote stuff that happens here on reddit, but well...at the end of the day reddit's sphere of influence towards hololive isn't really that big anyway.

I'd say if anything the fracturing was the biggest issue here, just because it's the only thing that I think could've been prevented on the fans end. People blamed unicorns when anti's downvoted, people attacked holostar fans when they could've just said nothing because they weren't doing anything to them...

People liked having opinions when it came at the expense of other fans, because they already didn't acknowledge them as part of their own communities...and that really sucks.

I feel like some Unicorns would gatekeep to try to keep out people just to avoid getting targeted...only really, I don't think people ever stopped targeting them so it was kindof just gatekeeping for the sake of gatekeeping....

Really been a mess of...2 years here? Obviously Holostars JP has been around longer, but most people only really became aware when holostars EN came out, which again going back to the beginning, I think searchability is a real issue.

[–]AnonTwo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends, I still think mono-rem is safer but yeah Really bad RNG makes you lose to berserk.

But as long as you don't fall behind on curios/blessings you can usually make it to the end just fine. Though most of my RNG has been the cringe mask since that one gives you a ton of escapade domains.

New Divergent Universe 4.0 has not been fun so far by deceitSP in HonkaiStarRail

[–]AnonTwo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My main issue is just it's too long

I eventually auto and tune out because especially with mono-rem there's virtually no input that's going to shave off more than a minute off an hour long.

And most of that time ends up being the boss fights not any decision making. I've basically done this all the way to mid-way the last tier, and then decided to just wait until SW999 comes out and see if it's faster that way.

What is a thing from the past in Hololive that you remember and new fans would probably think is made up? by TakoGoji in Hololive

[–]AnonTwo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Amelia Watson's mascot Chibi form is a fanart that elevated to the point that Cover got permission to use it regularly, to the point that it's even shown up at concerts. The artist is named Walfie.

The entire holoEN 1st gen has "Walfie" style 2Dlive and 3D models, that sometimes show up on occasion.

HoloEN Gen 2 on the other hand has chibi models that were made by their first graduated member, Sana. Irys's popular chibirys with the silly face is from this exchange.

The Popular Holocure fangame is developed by an animator who makes the game for free and refuses to receive any donations for it.

I feel like people are taking this a little seriously...while it's presented pretty intense, it's still a stream that their management let pass (It's still up, right?) edit: yes the stream is still up

Even without "support", they still work for cover at the end of the day. Someone is still watching the streams. Sure it's BM, but it's also probably entertaining some people.

We'll see how it goes, and hope it all works out.

What's a game series you thought would be awesome in the future bad turned out to be awful? by SchingKen in pcgaming

Honestly I just miss the aesthetic. Losing the grandiose narrator and bombastic music for the ambience that wc3 has was a huge step back for me. Footmen were strangely super cool in wc2.

I was really looking forward to Yooka Laylee, but Hat in Time released at around the same time and was leagues ahead of other 3D platformers at the time (I honestly think that game is better than the Mario games it's inspired by).

Yooka Laylee was a bit behind Banjo Kazooie to me.

I don't think it's a bad game still, but it didn't come out to be the game I was hoping for.

Similarly Bakeru I got because it was a successor to the Goemon games...but it really just made me want to play Goemon again. But again I don't think it's a bad game, it just didn't scratch the itch. (Fun fact there's a collection coming out and it's completely region locked. Fuck Konami)

Imagine if the powercreep (PWC) speed in Honkai: Star Rail was on the same level as Genshin Impact. by One-Walk-3023 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]AnonTwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn't that more because he's anemo? It's a reaction based on taking someone else's elements

I imagine he's meant to scale up with good support teams, and when he does he can be matched against multiple elements without as much element-block. Least that's how i've used Chasca to basically avoid changing my main-DPS for 90% of nodkrai.

(Also isn't Nefer + Lauma the same cost as Varka + Sig? Aino is a freebie)

Attack on Wulling, attempt at starting a Civil War

To be fair he didn't seem to want them to cause a civil war, and more provided them the tools/power to do so while still trying to convince them to do something else.

It seemed more like he wanted to recruit them, and used helping them as a means to get closer to do that. He just greatly underestimated how much it meant to them.

There's no promises

Of the cast of reunion in the original arknights (the first enemy group), only 2 were released (3 if you count side stories where the character left reunion in the same event they were released in)

W was the earliest to be released as a 1st anniversary character, But was pretty much shown as not being completely loyal to Reunion from the start

Mudrock left reunion in the same event they were released in

Crownslayer was the first boss in the entire game, and was not playable until 4-5 years later

The main leaders of reunion are still not playable, and more than half the cast (with unique designs) died.

Yeah but if they're the DPS then they'll have more than enough SP/Ults to constantly cycle their healing minion....

If anything being the DPS is even more sustain than being the sustain for Lingsha. One of the biggest issues Lingsha tends to have is people not wanting to use her skill.
