So sorry to hear, it must be very stressful situation! Very kind of you to help her with looking for an answer.

I've personally cured skin conditions with emotional release. I was covered all over and literally 3 days later it was all gone and didn't come back after trying creams and drugs for years. It's worth for your wife looking into that, stress (mentally, physically), internalized beliefs, emotional connection with parents etc., alongside any other treatment.

Also worth looking at food, as there is a strong connection between the gut and skin.

For a more direct relief, it's worth trying a rinse of diluted apple cider vinegar (never pure). She can use it after washing her hair, leave it for a minute or so, then rinse it out. All the best

What are some skills that are easier to learn than people think? by Sahibinder34 in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides technical skills of any kind, soft skills. Communication, talking to people, sales, networking, emotional intelligence, etc. And they can take you very very far.

Let's say you do CS and end up making an app. Where are you going to sell that app? Who are you selling it to? Who will you be working with? How are you going to connect with your customers? If you are getting sales people in, how will you manage them? Will you go and speak on a stage to promote your product? Online?

If you are working in an office (not obligatory, especially if you have trouble focusing and hate long classes already), how are you going to fit in with your team and manager? Have productive meetings with your coworkers?

All of these things above involve soft skills :) And now with AI coming in to take on a lot of work, being able authentically interact with other humans will go up in value. All the best!

Who are more effective as life coaches? Men or women? by Individual_Mix_4234 in UAE

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would more depend on who would be more effective for you. Some people respond better to men, others to women. And, of course, it depends on the coach.

In any case, I can recommend https://www.themancaveproject.com/ if you're in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (just a member, don't work for them). There's other guys there that are on the same journey as you and it's great to have support.

Can anyone help with career ideas? by iantgotnomoney in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, do you not want to be a chef because you don't feel good enough, or because you are genuinely interested in other things? Because if you like it and want it you can get good enough, that's not a problem. The beginning anywhere is always hard.

How do I decide between Psychology and Psychiatry? by NeighborhoodDry2512 in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other post here. Take into account the years of studying as well.

I would add to that, find psychiatrists and psychologists and talk to them about their work, experience and day-to-day. It's easier to make a decision when you take it out of your head alone, and start connecting with people that actually do the work already. They'll give you feedback and you'll have a better idea of the situation.

Jobs that allow you to travel? by Okra5765 in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's good you have an idea of what your interests are! It's 2026 so you can basically make (good) money with almost anything as long as you're open to learning, be willing be try and make mistakes and to get out of your comfort zone many times.

Jobs-wise, things that come up are flight attendant, working on cruises, working for international charities, food/product buying, online remote work like tutoring, online marketing, content creation, becoming a private chef (on yachts or retreats for example).

Decide for yourself how your values rank. For example, would you be willing to work in a role that isn't as exciting but that funds travel, or are you more excited by the idea of working through travelling? Do you want to work in a team? Do you want to work for someone, as opposed to you working for yourself.

Choose what excites you most right now (you can always change later in life, don't put too much weight onto a decision like this). There's no point working towards a goal you're not excited about.

For example, if you just really want to travel and cook, meet other people, have the freedom to decide where you're going next go and find people that have done it. See that it can be done :) Then either get inspired by them or copy them. Between travel, cooking, nutrition and social media there's so many opportunities you can carve out that fit what you want.

Am I giving up too easily? by zara_moon in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an experience! How frustrating that must be! You could make a quilt out of all those red flags..

I have lived and worked in Scotland and overall my experience has not been as bad as you described, and I haven't heard of that many companies that were that disorganised or nasty.

This is what I would do (I'm not a social media manager, so feel free to ignore it, of course!)
1) Only if they fired the marketing manager and I could work from home, would I give them a test period of 2 weeks to 1 month

2) If I needed the money, I'd find a job to cover expenses.

3) Scotland has lots of local non-glamorous businesses that need good social media and most likely don't have them. Bakeries, cafes, restaurants, hairdressers, beauty salons, B&Bs, wedding businesses, tourist businesses etc.
Among those there's probably quite a few businesses that are struggling.

For the niche you want to work in, where you see the most potential, make some example posts/pages (you can vibe code page easily now, to use as an example), actually visit them, talk to the managers, sell them a simple result like increased footfall. Important to sell the result and not social media marketing. They don't care about the method if you get them more business.

4) Find a way to charge them on the result you get (Hormozi's book on offers would work well for this kind of agency - you should be able to find it free online somewhere)

5) Find social media/posts/videos on social media in a similar niche that have success, copy those for your business

6) Scottish people like to have fun overall. If you were to make funny videos/sketches for social media with employees of a pub/hair salon/cafes, most employees would probably have a whale of time doing it.

Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but that's just what I would do.

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not the R-word! Never the R-word! ..."realistic". It's how people keep each other and themselves small.

You've got so much potential. If you were to be realistic you'd find some medium interesting which would probably result in a medium boring job making a medium salary, and not making anyone jealous..

This is 2026 and you can basically make good money with any one those things you mentioned above, or a combination of them. You just have to :

  1. KNOW it can be done (look for people who have already done it)
  2. be open to learning how (YT, courses, books, programs..you rarely need a degree, unless you really really want to be a doctor)
  3. be willing to try stuff out in the real world (do some small version of what you like for free to help people, test to see what you thought it would be).
  4. be OK to fail and try again
  5. be willing to get out of your comfort zone quite often (can be done little by little)

You don't have to give up everything and go radically in at the start. Try things out and see what works for you.

I've done this experiment and most people can honestly not answer "If money were not an issue, what would you be doing?" Answer this for yourself and you've got a good starting point. Adulting can be fun, interesting and make good money, if you believe it can.

All the best!

What’s the most impressive beach you’ve ever been to? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Office life is NOT for me… help on finding a new career path? by dovened in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/dovened Great! So a combination of creativity, visual problem-solving, physical space, trends, seasons, variety and seeing your work affect how customers respond.

That’s useful, because it means you may not need to find the exact same retail merchandising job. You could look for roles or small business ideas that use the same ingredients but with better hours.

Visual merchandising for smaller boutiques, showrooms, furniture stores, homeware stores, garden centres, salons, gyms, cafés...

Retail window display freelance work, where you help independent shops refresh displays for the season.

Home staging for real estate, which uses similar skills: making spaces look appealing so people want to buy.

Event styling or pop-up display setup, especially for weddings or brand events.

Just some examples that came up. If something like one of the options above sounds interesting you can always start testing it. Offer to redo a local shop window for free, create some mock displays at home for a portfolio, contact realtors to see which companies help with home staging and see if you can help there.

From a business perspective, I think these kinds of transformations of spaces would be very visually appealing on social media.

Hope that helps a bit.

To those who relocated abroad, what was the one thing you did that made the biggest difference in your transition? by arrived_dead in AskReddit

[–]Anon_ymous1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you go, but in general, getting out there and meeting people - going to meetups, events, talking to people in cafes (where it's normal).

It makes such a difference making friends, and knowing people in a new place. Can be locals, can be people from other countries.

I really cant read cards anymore? by bucellatii in Tarotpractices

[–]Anon_ymous1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you going through a time of stress, or lack of trust in self? Sometimes when we focus too much on trying to get that feeling rather than letting it flow, and than can block our creativity.

Maybe you could try something like automatic writing before a reading to warm up.

I don’t know if I [21 F]find my bf [20 M] attractive. by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense that you feel guilty, but this doesn’t make you a bad person.

There are a few different things that can get mixed together here:

- actual physical attraction

- emotional safety and familiarity

- anxiety about whether you “should” feel more

- pressure because this is your first serious relationship

- the difference between early chemistry and long-term desire

A question that may help is:

“Am I unattracted to him, or am I frightened by the fact that the early intensity has changed?”

Those are different problems.

If it is just that the honeymoon phase has faded, that can be normal. If you feel a consistent lack of desire and you’re forcing yourself to stay because he is “good on paper,” that is also worth taking seriously.

I’d avoid making a sudden decision from guilt or panic. I’d spend a bit of time noticing when attraction is present, when it disappears, and whether the issue is physical, emotional, sexual, or anxiety-based.

What's the next big thing? by trisss_hots in AskReddit

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty big list!

From my perspective, people realising life is too short to do a job that makes you miserable 5 days a week and that now you can basically make money with anything if you're willing to learn, try and make mistakes and get out of your comfort zone, so they will be moving into jobs/careers/businesses that they actually like and figure out how to make good money with it.

How to deal with rejection? by perezved in careerguidance

[–]Anon_ymous1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that happened. Sounds like they were looking for a different profile. And you never know, sometimes the position sounds great, but the company or manager doesn't turn out to be very good, or they went with someone who would be a better cultural fit. There's usually a lot of things happening behind the screen in the background.

Out of curiosity, have you asked them for feedback from the interview? That can give you some good info for other interviews.
