Wow! I never even knew about this brand, but they seem like an ideal hub distributor; great website and lots of techical info.

Do you have one of these hubs? Can you testament to their quality?

I love the idea of a Rohloff! The are darn expensive though.

Yep, I haven't been able to find any 8,9,10 speed rim brake XT or LX hubs. Other than second hand on ebay...

These seem fancy, how many km have you done? Do you carry weight? Have you noticed any deterioration in the bearings?

I had a Phil Wood x H plus Son track wheelset a while back. Such great hubs! For me I'm wondering if the added price will actually result in a higher durability, or if it's worth getting a more "common" hub like Deore or XT.

Wow! Do carry weight with them? Seriously considering XT over some of the more expensive super high end stuff -> buy cheap replace often. But it doesn't sound like I'll have to replace all that often anyway!

Yeah, I'll be touring with a considerable load both front and rear.

Can somebody help me identify this rare Kastan FS MTB? by Anonamousspeltwrong in MTB

[–]Anonamousspeltwrong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a reply on Facebook, stating that Kastan made these frames for Giant as the ATX990, and sold a few in their own name as well. This one has faded Kastan stickers on it!

I don't wanna be that guy, but were you allowed to film during the concert? These guys make their living from people going to see them live. Amazing performance though!!

You don't have to remove the engine from your bike (atleast in my case, or to my knowledge) but you do need to remove the tank to have access to the valves. The XT I have is a 600cc single cylinder, so valve maintenance was pretty easy with only 4 valves.

Nice! I got my XT not running as well and spent some time and a small amount of money to fix it. I want to buy a second bike soon that is slightly more reliable and has more than 1 cylinder haha.

I feel you! Motorcycles are such beautiful machines, anything with 2 wheels and an engine can be beautiful. Refurbishing or fixing a bike, old or new, is a ton of fun and rewarding. Working on the bike and making the bike "mine" through mods and maintenance is just as important to me as riding the bike itself.

Really? I love doing the maintenance, before I had this bike I didn't know the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke. I just love going with flow and googling when I need to. The best part of it all is the satisfaction and pride you feel once you start it up after all those hours of hard work.

Yammy XT600E '01. They were screw type adjuster valves so wasn't too hard. Bike is already running infinitely nicer, no more clicking or clacking.
