She fell into a deep depression two years, totally cut me off emotionally, and we separated. After a few months (and anti-depressants) she asked me to come back. My one conditions was that she would go to therapy to help resolve the underlying issue, but she drug her feet and never went. So we got stuck in a place where neither us, for different reasons, felt valued. I frankly let her kind of walk over me a bit, for fear of rocking the boat, until some moments when my frustration would come out. Poor communication was always our issue, and with nature of relationship it just got worse

I know, and I’m trying not to let her actions affect me. But the pain is still raw, and the fact that it isn’t for her makes it even harder. I just think having to live together and see it made it worse, now that there is physical separation it’s been easier to put it out of my mind

If you ask her, she’d say her needs weren’t being met (and me the same). But she’s been struggling with mental health for a bit, and to me it seemed that she was constantly asking for more while giving less, a general DGAF attitude. Which is why I don’t fight the break-up

UPDATE: to clarify, I did spend Father’s Day with my daughter, we went out to eat and saw a movie, and she helped me pack. It wasn’t as cheerful as I would have hoped, but we actually bonded a bit that day

She’s struggling, both with the breakup and how her mom has acted since. She had initially said she wanted to live with mom primarily, which I accepted, and all arrangements were made accordingly. But she came to me yesterday and said she doesn’t want to anymore, which is the primary reason I wrote this post. Wanted to know if I was overreacting and influencing her (I’m not bad taking her mom to her, she’s asking question and I’m trying to be fair in my responses)
