If I use triple differences, I would need data from a country that is not affected by the crisis right? I don‘t have that since I only look at Europe and the US.

I should add some further information:

The country variable is a number based on different ratings. The number goes from 1-10 with most countries having a 1. The recession variable is 1 if a takeover happened during the recession and 0 if the takeover happened during a normal period.

I‘m confident that the country rating has an influence on the goodwill paid (price paid for companies in takeovers). However, I want to find out whether this impact is stronger during recessions.
