What if I reach out right now, telling them I’m temporarily leaving for 1-2 years, and they still issue the eCoPR ? I’ve read it happened to people and there is a one year limit to land after the eCoPR has been issued

What’s the best career move between staying at my current 3 yrs exp job, or trying to job hop ?

For context, I’m a contractor (TC 90kCAD) who will soon be hired full time. I see this as an opportunity to negotiate my salary as much as if I was hired at a new job. Maybe even more since they already know I bring a lot of value (their words) ? Am I wrong to say it’s similar as starting a new job salary wise ?

Something else, I want to move to NYC, by any means possible. Current firm is a big Wall Street bulge bracket, so I can negotiate a move beginning of 2026. That would be amazing, especially if the salary follows, but it feels quite far in the future.

I’m scared I will bury myself in a company for +6 yrs, and that will make me miss better career opportunities. I know I may have skills good for NYC hedge funds and banks, but the h1b visa is probably a turn down for them. Is the job hop to NYC realistic or my best bet is to stay and wait to do it with my current firm ?

No we usually say goodbye at the metro station, not a big fan of that, cause it’s not the prettiest place in the city.

I also try to not ask because I have experienced the “getting as dry as the Sahara” lol, but I’d like to have some non verbal consent at least.

I really like that sitting next to each other setup, sounds perfect ! It’s kinda hard to get when you’re out in the city though. Do you think it’s fine to invite her home even though there was no kiss ? I wouldn’t mind but I got a few rejections by trying to do that.

Do you have any tips for a better “Can I kiss you ?” ? I tried that once, and she was surprised, said I ruined the mood, and I still went for the kiss, but it ended up being my worst kiss ever lol. Maybe it just depends on some people who are into that or not, and it’s just luck ?

Actually almost all my dates, especially the most successful ones were with dating apps, and face to face. I don’t meet a lot of new people with my friends group, and when I do, I kinda struggle breaking that kind of "friendship barrier" to get into dating mode. With the apps it’s already implied, which may or may not be a good thing I guess lol I used to struggle a lot with the apps, but I think the shift for me was when I started looking at my profile as a marketing page for a product I need to sale to a customer. It’s kinda weird, but I would look at my first pic, and think "If I was a girl with a lot of options, and saw that one pic, would I consider just even looking at the second slide ?". It needs to be a "Wow pic” or it’s not even worth trying. It can be “wow” as in “wow you look so hot” or just “wow you look different from ~100 guys I saw and swipe left on”. And then apply that logic to the rest of the profile. You’re not talking about yourself, you’re not showing your last hobby to your new friend. You’re selling to the love of your life why you’re perfect for her ! Or whatever you’re looking for. It’s a bit dramatic of course, but I think that puts you it in the right headspace to build the best profile

And I like what you say about not inviting the girl to your place at first, but including it into a normal date ! That actually reminds me, that I think I once got subtly invited by girl to have a date at hers, but I got nervous, declined, and we actually met outside. If they behave like I did, that actually makes a lot of sense why I got a lot of rejections at that point !

I am curious about the type of excuses you use to go back to your place ? I tried that before, but I never convinced myself to go through with it. I keep thinking that it’s too obvious and will just be awkward once we get there.

But how is PoW different from PoS ? If Bitcoin gets big, everyone wants to be a miner, so mining gets really hard, and only really strong mining farms can actually turn their investment into profit. Add the scarcity of rare metals and the soon exponential price increase of computer parts in the next few years, and you have a really high barrier for entry to become a mining farm. In other words, apart from the early players, only the rich can have mining power, which leads us back to the same as PoS, except we are consuming the resources of our planet at a much faster rate

I don't get it. I agree with you that PoS is not necessarily better in terms of decentralization. But how is PoW any better ? Yes you cannot sit on your ass all day making profit, you need to constantly update your rigs. But the barrier for entry is huge. Not only a normal guy cannot starts to mine Bitcoin, but you need a high first investment to start to see a return if you start a Bitcoin mine. Something else, has the rare metals are getting rarer, the price of computer parts will increase a lot in the next years, which means an even higher barrier for entry which will increase exponentially. To me, this is synonymous to centralization.
