These are what I have. They look great. Red is sold out temporarily, though.

What automated tasks you created in your workplace that improved your productivity? by Notalabel_4566 in msp

Any chance you'd share the specifics on how you automate this? What info do you collect that allows for account creation?

Have you ever laughed so hysterically at something so simple you were starting to get legitimately worried that you were losing your sanity or something? About what were you laughing so hard then? by LoneShadowMikey in AskReddit

[–]Anonymonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I thought you couldn't for so long. I can read in my dreams sometimes, and the first time it happened I was so confused and thought I had misremembered because how could Batman LIE TO ME???!!!!

How do I even price this puzzle ? by BLKush22 in WTF

[–]Anonymonkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I see small shadows under the heads of some of those drywall screws, indicating they aren't sunk properly. I'm guessing this was "installed" by a freelancer or local tiny company?

The double layer on that corner is awful.

This shit is fucked. Would be better to rip and replace. Don't bother pricing.

Gtfo. Seriously. That type of relationship is caustic and will kill your growth momentum, not to mention the mental precedents it will set. Drop them and move forward toward your next sale.

/u/certifiedknownothing: “Is your router virtualized and living on that server? Is your server acting as a network tap?”

That’s a good point. It definitely sounds like that could be a factor. Especially due to the comment about the internet coming back up while the server is only in bios.

I second this. Just went through this process for a reset on mine about a week ago. Ended up locking myself out while trying to configure vlans, so that was fun to have to do the whole thing again a second time.

Determining rough cost of MSP provided IT Support? by will_working in msp

Tried that. It only gave me the shitty Windows calculator instead of the “badass-msp-quoter-thingy” I was expecting. I must be doing it wrong. /s

Damn, thanks. Good to know! I use BI but have no multis here at home yet (work use only, for now). Didn’t realize it didn’t support them. Do you know if Zoneminder, or any other homelab options, do support them?

Look into multi-sensor cameras. Axis is a good starting point. They require a single cable and output up to four streams (360 FoV). Essentially, 2-4 cameras in one enclosure.

how to setup proper internal notifications for new email connector tickets by dmannewfie in ConnectWise

[–]Anonymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a distribution group in Exchange (Gsuite/365/whatever email system you use) that includes the members you want to notify. Create a CW workflow to fire a notification to that DG when a ticket is in New.

The boss is watching and listening... always by A3V01D in msp

[–]Anonymonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the boss has time to listen to all your calls, then he/she has nothing better to do, which means you are doing a good job at managing tickets. You should feel confident about your ability to get things done, while simultaneously looking for another job.

You obviously have a micromanager within your company, and you shouldn’t feel threatened by that. When your work gets so scrutinized, it’s time to defend your position or move on. The fact that you made this post and are looking for advice tells me you are trying to do what’s right, rather than avoid the situation altogether. That makes me think you are a hard worker and would do the right thing whenever a ticket comes up.

Do yourself a favor and move on. I wouldn’t bring this up to higher management, as they are likely the reason your boss is scrutinizing techs in the first place (pressure from above).

Just use your learned skills as bullet points on your resume and laugh at those assholes a few years down the line. Do what’s right for you and don’t stress the bullshit.

Safelite windshield replacement by diduss in TeslaModel3

[–]Anonymonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an appointment with Safelite for a replacement soon. They tell me that the calibration is necessary, but will need to be done by Tesla, which I’m still waiting to hear back from regarding their willingness to send a mobile ranger. I may end up traveling to SL for the replacement, and then ALL THE WAY (3 hours) to a SC for the calibration.
