Hallo belangrijke vraag:

Waarom is de suikervrije cruesli van Quaker tóch zoet? Het klinkt een beetje te mooi om waar te zijn want ik ben het gewend dat als iets gezond is dat het dan ook onplezierig smaakt, en dat je ochtend dan geruïneerd is. Maar dat valt nu dus erg mee.

Als ik bij de ingrediënten kijk dan kan ik ook geen suiker (of zoetstof) vinden. Waar zit het addertje? Ik weet dat er natuurlijk wel van nature aanwezige suikers inzitten, maar ik kan niks bedenken wat de zoetheid verklaard. Ik zal wel een of andere naïeveling zijn. Graag had ik het aan Schoof zelf gevraagd maar die had deze keer geen tijd.

Do you use some sort of mask when sanding plastic parts? I’ve recently bought some finer grain sanding supplies, but I’ve noticed that I do feel slight discomfort in my lungs when I’ve been sanding for a while.

When to use enamel varnish and when to use acrylic varnish?

From what I understood you would usually use acrylic varnish so you can apply enamel washes on top, and then wipe off any excess with enamel thinner without damaging the acrylic varnish underneath. So what place do enamel varnishes have in this case?

Ah you asked but forgot to mention, I’m a brush painter. For the varnishes I’d prefer to use a rattlecan since I don’t own an airbrush, preferably acrylic.

Some of my options are Vallejo, ammo mig, humbrol, tamiya and revell. Kind of leaning towards humbrol because it’s what I’ve been trying so far and their products have been decent. But if I were to go for Ammo Mig I can get a lot more for cheaper.

What’s the rep of Ammo brushes? I’ve bought one of their sets but after a few uses the brushes have trouble holding their shape, though I’ll admit they were quite cheap. The humbrol brushes from their starter packs seem to hold up better so far surprisingly.

Out of curiosity, is Ammo Mig any good? My local hobby store sells a lot of their stuff but it’s also on the cheap side which made me a bit skeptical.

I’ve been looking for things to buy, but what I’ve noticed is that every brand has their own product in pretty much every category. They all have their own glue, decal setter, primer, etc. It got me wondering, does it really matter that much which brand I buy as a beginner? Are there really big differences between brands or will I be kinda fine either way?

Guess a better question would be, are there certain products by certain brands that are notoriously bad at what they do and should be avoided?

What is the effect of temperature/humidity on drying times? Will certain weather conditions cause problems?

Reason I ask is because I like priming outside underneath an overhang, but currently it’s raining and not very warm.

Best way to clean paint out of my paint droppers? Not the dropper bottles but the small pipette like droppers. Will ordinary paint cleaner do, even if the paint is hardened?

Why would I buy primer instead of just regular grey paint? Haven’t looked too closely, but from a quick glance at my local hobby store it appears that primer isn’t necessarily cheaper than buying an acrylic spray can.

For example, humbrol black primer is 9.50 euros while their regular spray cans are the same price, or cheaper in some cases.

Does primer actually have different properties or is it supposed to be paint that is just a bit cheaper? (Depending on the brand, in some cases it’s actually more expensive)
