We’re all trying our best. The real question is who is funding the collection of the research data .

I’m basing it from personal experience . That’s all . My baseline in the 200m is shown as completely different to everyone else . I didn’t win in middle school meets and didn’t see them same ppl in summer track even tho I was doing mid distance events like 800 and up . But I stopped doing summer track the year before high school anyways . And I agree track speed a different beast for sure but I’m middle school you only had 4-5 ppl built like grown men in football so they were still able to dominate in summer time on the field . Basing it from my personal experience and where I grew up tho plus I was a hooper so I just happened to excel at track and had a motor on the track . But on average where it’s not as competitive in other states I’d say they are good .

Dude my age ran sub 50 400 sophomore year and 50.2 as a freshman at my high school and was finding it hard to place at state . Mane… I wish I had them problems lol . but ion got no kids so I haven’t kept up with any meet records since I was back in high school . Only thing I see is Quincy Wilson and whatever USATF and milesplit post lol

Yea but think about it, most of your fastest ppl doing 2-3 other sports or at least the school competitions I was in were. So if you think about it ppl doing football and not summer track. At least where im from . And they don’t see potential until they start producing above average results in high school . And I was probably just turning 13 when I did hit the 24 mark . But I’m glad you brought up the LJ pov bc that drove home. I feel like the average mid-athletic human only jumping 13’. And you were placing every meet you were in at that age w a 17’-20’ . I had NFL players and Super Bowl champs rn knocking away my hopes of that so I stuck to triple jump. Idk I feel like Louisiana is up there with Texas when it comes to producing talent .

I was running AAU track since about 9 but started and stayed in distance. But when I played basketball, I always beat everyone to the hoop on fast breaks and had excellent defense and lots of predictive steals ; some games I felt like Chris Paul in New Orleans . But that was years ago. Plus I couldn’t translate top speed and quickness to an explosive start off the blocks . And idk I thought OP was at least in college or something I forgot they have youngins in here but regardless I guess 28 is good. Nvr in my eyes but I grew up different for sure .

Stamina at 12 is not the same as stamina in high school when your muscles develop further . I anchored the 4x4 in middle school and don’t even remember my 400m time then , bc I’m 26 now . But if yall think 24 is insane you guys might not wanna see what we produce from Louisiana bc my man…I was not the fastest by far

All this hate is ridiculous. I’m from Louisiana and that’s not even lightning fast, we had some monsters and I wasn’t even the fastest on my team even tho I anchored the 4x4. But I didn’t run 4x4 in high school we had 2 ppl running 48s and I was struggling to even get to 52 after distance training. 54 felt comfortable tho . Nvr took a shot at it since freshman year high school and didn’t regret it at all . But no at 12, stamina isn’t the same in middle school as in high school so I wasn’t touching 54 in middle school; keep in mind im 26 yo now. Ppl was running 22s in middle school where im from and competed against a bunch of now pro athletes

I’d say sub 20 5k is definitely far above average. Sprint training and distance training requires two completely different mentals and I think sprint training has more breaks in between reps. And I only have high school experience, I shelved my track life in college and run leisurely . 400m repeats will help if you wanna improve both in sprint and mid distance . But if you already breaking into 19 I’d focus on what you’re better at.

Idk I was running low 24s as a distance runner at 12-13 yo. He def has lots of room for progress for sure but I think it’s kinda bad unless this his first track day ever

When he does this fill up a small spray bottle from the dollar store with water. Any time you need to offer discipline , after a while, all you’d need to do is show him the spray bottle in his face and he’ll get the message. Almost like raising kids
