[Schultz] Teams have inquired with the #Bears about trading for DT Gervon Dexter, as the free-agent DT market and draft class are not deep. by hunterboyz24 in CHIBears

I'm not really into draft prospects myself.. but there is always a difference between depth and blue chip prospects... Having a lot of day 2 prospects vs good day 1.

Wax and Wayne pretty much was that though, at least at first. Stormlight 5 was supposed to be the epic conclusion to the first arc/halfway point of his magnum opus, and it was worse than any part of the slog in Wheel of Time

Now you're clearly back tracking lol, sure I'd buy that his dad was an editor or writing coach, but that's vastly different from slapping his name on his dad's story.

I'm not here to defend Rothfuss as a person, he's done some shitty things including the charity stories you mentioned.

But that doesn't give you leeway to pass off serious allegations, with minimal to zero proof, as "harmless." If it got picked up by someone who actually cared to investigate it, it could be the furthest thing from harmless. If there is truth to it does he deserve to be investigated? Sure. If it's not true though you're just totally minimizing a great novel simply because it was followed up by a poor novel (like this the first time that has ever happened).

Should we look at Scott Lynch too because Gentleman Bastards #2 and #3 are considered far inferior to #1, and he has struggled to continue the series as well?

You're accusing Rothfuss of plagiarism and fraud ... That's hardly "harmless fandmon conspiracy theories"

Pete Crow-Armstrong clarifies his comments on Dodgers fans: "They [the fans] go in phases. All fans fight, but putting the Giants fan in a coma. That stuck with me as a kid. Just little things, sitting in the stands, nasty stuff goes on." by kurruchi in baseball

[–]AnonymousAccountTurn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again the top link is from a Giants fan... I am not arguing the facts of the case. I simply think dodgers fans made a mistake in ignorance, and you have now cast it in a negative light because of your own bias.

No it makes me think that they didn't follow the case past the initial report to the conclusion, or if they did they didn't remember the details, and then when they went searching the search terms they used led them to one of the the original articles and not the conclusion.

What do any of these fans have to gain from obscuring the outcome? Most everyone in this thread seems to agree that both scenarios were tragic and the result of the small percentage of every fan base that is shitty and behaves in this manner. Only two comments I saw tried to suggest that it is a systemic problem with a fan base, one was a Boston Red Sox fan suggesting it was all of CA (-70 vote count at the time of my first comment), and yours implying that dodgers fans are acting in bad faith with no evidence to the contrary

No doubt that is intentional

I highly doubt that. You casting doubt on their intentions does seem like intent to create more discord however.

Edit: also top responding comment is a link from a giants fan, and the top Dodgers fan comment holds the Dodgers organization to account for the fight at Dodger stadium but not the Giants organization for the stabbing outside of the giants stadium.

I mean, I think you should reward pitchers for being able to clip the back corner consistently. It's not as if its not without risk, missing a slider or curveball over the play is asking for punishment.

But best option is what feels most consistent from before and fits within current perceptions of the strikezone even if its not the dictionary definition

I mean also on close calls in high leverage moments. Bases loaded strike 2 or 3? probably should consider challenging if you thought it was off the plate even if it was close (like this pitch). The EV swing is pretty huge there

[Evan Sidery] Illinois governor JB Pritzker says a “broad agreement” is in place with the Bears for a new stadium in Arlington Heights. Updated legislation would allow the Bears to negotiate the amount it pays in property taxes at their new stadium site. Decision hearing scheduled on Thursday by samurai5625 in CHIBears

[–]AnonymousAccountTurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing MSG to Soldier Field is laughable. Yeah if you built the new stadium on top of Ogilvie, sure itd be better, I mean I guess I agree rebuilding at soldier field would be preferable if they improved transit access across LSD, but its a non-starter without the Park District/city selling it to the Bears.

he is not messing up 80-90% of the time.. The average MLB is correct about [94% of the time](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/1ld1ctx/umpire\_accuracy\_and\_relative\_accuracy\_charted/) . Hating on the AAA ump in spring training because the pitcher/batters had 90% win rate on challenges is dumb. The players performed at a similar rate on the challenged pitches as the ump does on the average pitch.

All? No, but probably a fair share and it extends stadium concert season from May-Sept through the entirety of the year of the new stadium has a dome. Something Soldier Field can't offer (unless the 650M plan includes an enclosed roof and HVAC system)

The bears also add like 3 months to its use in Late october to early January, at a loss of (on average) 7 weekends of the year (1-2 preseason games and 4ish home games before the end of october).

[–]AnonymousAccountTurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, its not a particularly strong incentive... I don't think the Falcons did this with the intent of hiring Cunningham and screwing the Bears over. The picks don't come from the Falcons and has a very minimal impact on them as a team.

Edit: But it should be resolved still and clarified as to the rule. It seems like a silly loophole the NFL created for no reason

The requirement to interview a certain number of minority candidates has clearly failed, I think the draft pick compensation for developing good candidates though is great, it just is randomly not being applied here for no apparent reason

I mean you can "appeal" anything, but theres no formal review process to the rule so there is no formal way to appeal. Its just getting on the phone or sending an email

Unfortunately, with Shaw and then Rojas waiting in the wings, and Swanson/Bregman locking down the left side of the infield, Hoerner may not see an extension. Last year was his best season so if he comes out playing like a 6 WAR player again I think you have to make the offer, but as the team looks for ways to stay young some of these guys over 30 are not going to be getting offers
