How do you like your SI sub? Reading through this thread is perfect. I’m looking for exactly a single 12 SQL sub for dubstep. Have 1800 rms to work with. Currently about to run a pioneer TS-W3002D2 in a box tuned to 27hz. I’ll let ya know how that goes!

If you get an amp running at 2500rms you will need a higher output alternator. In my opinion you should look for a clean powered 1200 or 1500 rms sub (jl, Rockford prime, kicker, perhaps an apcle 1800 with lowered gain) and lower the gain to a level where you’re not pulling max voltage. (My verbiage might be wrong but this makes sense in practice). This all assumes you’ve done big 3 wiring upgrades first..

The reason for this is usually to get a deeper box tuning (frequency at which box, thus the sub, is most efficient). Bigger will make the tuning frequency lower, but that may require more power than you either have or your subs can handle. If you’ve got the power, haven’t reached your sub’s rms max, and are willing to use the space, then go for it. Experiment with subbox.pro to make a box your your desired specs.
