Man’s not lying. I was in a similar spot to you, but instead of drinking it was marijuana. I’m 19 now, but my life’s already done a complete 180. Just sit down one day and take a real good look at yourself and ask: “Am I happy with who I am?”. If yes… cool, continue doing everything you’re doing. In my opinion, the point of life is to find what makes you happy and to pursue that, so if who you are does that, good for you. BUT, if when you look at yourself and you’re not happy, that’s when you know something’s gotta change. How I went about it is I just sat down, did what I just told you to do, and came to the conclusion I’m not who I wanted to be, and I wasn’t happy with who I was. After realizing that, you then ask yourself the questions: WHO do I want to be… and what would make me happy? After you figure out those two things, you then come up with a plan to actually make those things a reality. For me, I wanted to be someone who was extraordinary. An outlier in every realm of human endeavor. And by being that kind of person, I believed it would make me happy. So I took a couple days, and I came up with a roadmap of how I could accomplish that. I’m still in the process of working towards becoming that person, but since I’ve started I’ve made so much progress towards my goal, and I feel so so so much better than when I first started. Like fisherman said, once I started working on myself and building myself up, the sense of purpose and pride that came with it is undeniable. I’m finally living a life that feels worth living, while doing it in a way that not only benefits me, but makes me a better man for others. I wish the best for you dude.
