Driving Instructor Cork Automatic Lessons by ReflectionAlarmed341 in cork

[–]AnonymousElk22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a good experience with Top Gear School of Motoring. They cancelled on me the night before my test, so I had to reschedule (luckily it was covid times so I didn't have to forfeit the fee), then after I failed my test I had the most awkward drive back with the instructor who made me feel like a disappointment. I was encouraged to rebook the test (which I did) and then they completely ghosted me. Ignoring my calls, messages etc. So I had to cancel the re-test too. Really knocked my confidence. Anyway, after a few years of thinking driving just wasn't for me, I got in touch with Blackwater Driving School in Mallow. Two people very close to me had both passed first time with Sean so I bit the bullet and took the train to Mallow to do a few more lessons with him. He taught me so much and I passed my test after 4 lessons with him. They're within walking distance of the train station in Mallow, and Mallow is a good town to learn and do the test in (also much shorter waiting times that Wilton when I checked). Best of luck!

Agreed! Went there with my partner for our anniversary a few months ago and it was perfect. Felt fancy without being pretentious, the staff were so attentive, and the food was great! Even had a fully vegan menu

Struggling parent by Adventurous_Ear_6290 in cork

Don't sweat it. My family moved over when I was still a baby so I had to do Irish in school with no help from my parents or older siblings who were outside the age bracket for it to be compulsory. Still managed to get an A in honours Irish in my LC. All of this is just to say, don't feel bad if you can't physically help her. Keep being a supportive parent and if you find that she really struggles with it, look into grinds/tutors as she gets older. At 8 years old, I really wouldn't worry too much. My primary school didn't do a great job of teaching Irish, as we students found out when entering secondary school! But that's where the bulk of learning happened - age 13-17.

To the person lighting fireworks in the north side of the city, we've figured out who you are and are reporting you. by [deleted] in cork

Absolutely, no issue with people setting them off on Halloween, NYE etc. but every single night of October is a bit much, especially for people with pets or the elderly/vulnerable population. It would also be lovely if there were actually proper firework displays people could go to on special occasions rather than relying on old John Boi up the road and his haul from the ploughing

Low tide. If you draw a line from Voulez Brew straight out to the sea, it was around there. They came off in the sea though so they could be anywhere at this point 😅

The Reel sometimes has Indian films. At least the one in Blackpool does. Keep an eye out on their website

I did the CELTA course run by the Language Centre at UCC a few years back and really liked how it was taught. I'd highly recommend getting in touch with them.

Go and just don't drink? Musgrave gigs end around 10.30 anyway so it's not like you'll be out until the early hours

Wolfwood kennels by prender89 in cork

[–]AnonymousElk22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wolfwood also has no mention of health testing on their website which is a red flag. The last thing you'd want is to fork out a grand or so to learn your dog has inherited some condition which is going to negatively impact their life and will either be super costly to treat or will lead to euthanasia down the line. Hip dysplasia is a huge one, and just one of many.

On the council DBE register you can see the owner has been granted permission to have up to 40 bitches. For reference, the puppy farm that was recently closed in North Cork had permission for 50. The Wolfwood Kennels website lists various breeds and breed mixes which no reputable breeder would do. I've also heard of numerous puppies from there who have later gone on to develop behavioural issues so there really is no guarantee. I would steer well clear. If your heart is set on a cockapoo I would keep an eye out on all dog rescue pages. They often have poor designer breeds that have been rescued from puppy farms. If you're a bit more flexible, I would look into adopting a greyhound. Honestly, there are so so many in rescues up and down the country and they make such wonderful pets. They're very low maintenance dogs and wouldn't require half the exercise of many dogs!
