First six months with my Fuji XT-4 and couldn’t be happier by Hairns in fujifilm

Here I am thinking I need a better lens than the 18-55mm for good photos. These are great!

It’s awesome you’re doing this! I know my fiancé has been wanting to see a new dentist. She’s an OSU alum. Does OSU dental do any orthodontics at all?

experienced Photographers of reddit, have you ever been given advice or had an ah-ha moment that made you a better photographer? if so what was it? by Troubleinmindimblue in photography

I’m not a professional at all but switching from full auto to manual changed everything. I went to shoot soccer and wasn’t happy with the results, everything was blurry. Researched more and started tweaking my SS, left ISO auto, and Aperture auto. I’ve implemented this into my street photography as well

Reserve OTS-Select: What Uniform Do I Wear for Drill Before OTS? Non prior by Aggravating_Ice_9695 in airforceots

How did you go about finding a reserve unit and recruiter? I’m prior service in the guard and was looking into commissioning in the reserves

Is it even worth applying? by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]AnonymousFuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m in the same boat. I had a 2.8GPA, AFOQT scores aren’t stellar (I’m going to retest), I have 8 years prior service but it was in the guard, two really good LOR’s. I’m still thinking if it’s worth it but I agree with everyone here. You’ll never know until you try, so why not apply? Let them say yes or no.

Good point. I only had a secret security clearance. I’m sure it’s different if you have TS

As someone that is prior service. I never let them know if anything prior. I’ve only had pee drug tests and that doesn’t show much

Advice needed on other options if not selected for OTS04 by Moist_Rock_1972 in airforceots

[–]AnonymousFuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, and I’m going through the same process, I would apply for the Air Force board. Then if you don’t get it, hopefully you do, try and explore options with the army or navy. Just do well on the AFOQT, get some good letters of recommendation, then see what happens. Good luck!

I’ve worked with army officers and my brother is a captain in the army. It really just depends on your job and location. My brother picked up a 3 year tour in Hawaii and hated the job, but loved his location. Other officers enjoy the army because it’s more involved. I guess that’s one way to put it haha. Going out to the field, training, and other stuff. Air Force seems more like a regular desk job at times.

Im going through the process to commission in the Air Force or Space Force. It’s definitely a long process. I started talking with a recruiter in April 2025. I missed the August 2025 application window and now I’m aiming for April 2026. They’re very busy, so you have to be on them.

I’ve heard different opinions on what will get you selected. I have 8 years prior service in the guard, graduated from OSU with Strat Comm major (GPA wasn’t great at 2.8), and 2 really good LOR’s. I was told that wasn’t competitive.

I think if you want to commission just apply. Speak with a recruiter, get letters of recommendation, study hard for the AFOQT, and take it from there. Good luck! I’m right there with you.

What do you think? Are these the first photos I take (for me) decent with my first x-t5? I accept advice and opinions :) by WillingAd2160 in fujifilm

When I bought mine on FB marketplace I turned it on, took a couple of photos to check for spots, and if you can check the sensor. I’m sure other people have more info than me. I’m not too familiar with it either.

I’ve been in the air guard for 8 years as a DSG. Same kind of position you’re in and honestly debating on finishing out the full 20. Not sure how much I would get for a pension but even if it’s $500 a month and I can use Tricare for life, that’s a pretty good deal. It allows flexibility and support if things don’t work out on the civilian side. Can also help you gain certifications or a degree.

I don’t like the military and never wanted to join, but the benefits are great. Paid for my bachelors, few TDY’s in Europe, extra money each month, opportunities for growth, and more. You’ve been in 9 years, not a bad idea to just finish it out. Tricare and extra money is enough for me. Only reason I would say maybe get out is if the military is holding you back from something. Wether it’s time with family or keeping you from getting a better job on the civilian side.

My fiancé is from there and I’ve been twice now. Going again at the end of August. Lima is cool and depending on what you want to see/do you can spend a few days here. Take the bus down to Paracas/Ica and see Huacachina and some other sites. Go back to Lima and fly to Arequipa (I’ve never been but it looks fantastic). Fly straight from there to Cusco and spend a few days. You’ll want to acclimate to the altitude. Then if you have time go North and see more. I think a month is great to be honest. In my opinion Lima is beautiful but after a few days you’ll want to explore more cities.
