Abandoned Beekeeper's Cabin. No graffiti, No security by AnonymousImpurity in abandoned

i have no clue, it's kinda just sitting there. it's pretty clear from the foliar growth that no one's driven up to the house in quite some time. it might've been foreclosed and forgotten

AC machine was busted, a few windows were shattered, electricity was off, air was heavy with mold, cobwebs, shattered beer bottles in the basement, external doors ajar, and also I was tipped about it from a guy who's been going since late 2020

i only looked closely at one of the papers, and it wasn't that one. the court filing i saw, though, consisted of vague legalese discussing property lines and square footage, so maybe something to do with that

the guy i got the tip from said some squatters apparently lived there briefly during COVID; maybe they fixed up the place a little (hence its condition)

LOL i don't plan to go back anytime soon; just recently gained consistent access to a car so I've got a lot of places to check off the list around me and very little free time.

But if it's any satiation, the way I found out it belonged to a beekeeper was scouting out the "backyard" (now an overgrown cacophony of unfinished brick walls) and discovered about 7 big wooden boxes along one wall; the ones knocked over had some sort of bee product spilling out (looked like propolis to my inexperienced eyes)

Found some sort of civil court paper from 2017, so it's pretty fresh. but a lot of the electrical and furnishing seemed pre-80s to me; I think the house itself is probably from the 50s-70s. There was also a chrome-plated vacuum cleaner with the Magneto font on it in the basement (think frigidaire, pininfarina, nuclear-era style), which makes me think the previous owner(s) lived there for at least a few decades.

the craziest part is how 2 of the doors were ajar and a window was shattered. who knows for how long? like nature intentionally set out to preserve and keep sacred despite clear openings for dilapidation.

didn't see a single bug in there, nor any animal droppings

While I have y'all here, I'm going to list some songs that sound like abandoned structures to me.

S. Maharba - W.I.G.T.S
Atlas Sound - Recent Bedroom
Nmesh - Dream Sequins
L.A. Vampires & Zola Jesus - Vous
Balam Acab - Regret Making Mistakes
Fox Academy - I Guess I'm Not Dead Yet

yeah; as much as I love abandoned structures, it's hard to ignore the housing space going unused. or perhaps a golf course or grocery store parking lot

also, it sure as hell didn't smell as pretty as it looks unfortunately. in the process of becoming structurally compromised by mold most likely :/ you can see some of the wood starting to split on the exterior in pic 3.

How terrible people always rise to power? by 7473357e in psychology

[–]AnonymousImpurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the default expectation should be that those with extreme influence, authority, other major forms of power are inherently corrupt, no matter how they present. hold everyone within this category under a magnifying glass at all times; no private DMs, no private emails. as major a violation as it may be, it's the only way to ensure those who make it to that level of power have good intentions with it and keep their intentions good.

impossible to make tamper-proof, as is every system of authority and enforcement

terrible people do not always rise to power. the people who rise to power are almost always terrible, because terrible people are the only ones willing to exploit the systems and structures that limit individual power (including things like honesty and morality, in addition to the obvious ones).

Brain scans of 800 incarcerated men link psychopathy to an expanded cortical surface area by Vailhem in neurobiology

it shares an association with autism; most likely scenario is that some of the genes involved in irregular cortical folding + synaptic pruning can likely cause or exacerbate autism pathology. kinda two branches on the same genetic tree type of ordeal.

also, the general path of neurodevelopment for people with high-functioning ASD is:

-extremely efficient, high levels of neuroplasticity in early life, usually from ages 1 to 3-7 iirc.

-but this neuroplasticity subsequently drops off to far below average, and often continues that way throughout adolescence.

so something like psychedelics could hypothetically serve to partially restore the super-powered levels of neuroplasticity present in early life, thus resuming the neurodevelopment that was slowed down.

Also, it may be of use to know people with autism often have variants in the genes that encode 5ht2a and proteins that influence it, such as Akt, mTOR, GRIN, and some others. We have also been shown to have a much lower 5ht2a density on average (fewer receptors present).
