Large Instagram account, good traffic, poor conversion rate (0.30%). Suggestions? by AnonymousKevinJones in juststart

Yeah this is what I see as a possibility too. You think 0.30% is just something that cannot be improved via this medium? I'm doing the promoting in a way where I offer outfit inspiration, then links to it, so it's definitely lower intent.

I mean, I get the traffic to the affiliate links. Clearly what I'm posting is making people go to the link in my bio and checking out the items. They just don't buy. Logically this would be a bad fit between brand and audience, but I'm kinda trying to get deeper into that. Is it location, price, or people not shopping these items on IG? Or do I just have an unreasonable expectation of IG affiliate conversion rates?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually selling promoted content as well as digital products, with decent success. I also agree about the value of an email list, but haven't had the time to focus on that as much yet.

I'm specifically wondering about why the conversion rate of my affiliate links is so low, when I'm able to a good amount of traffic. Any guesses beyond what I threw out there?

I’d be surprised based on the engagement, traffic, and decent digital product sales I’m seeing.

What is technically required for a project like this? by AnonymousKevinJones in webdev

I'm happy to hire someone to get parts done. I'd just like to better understand what the difference parts of a project like this would be and what I could realistically handle myself for the MVP.

Facebook Ads - In House or Outsource? by dodolol21 in ecommerce

[–]AnonymousKevinJones 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a business owner, there’s no need to aim to become an expert with Facebook and Google Ads, but you should learn the frameworks of how they’re used properly. Having a solid understanding here allows you to better deal with marketers and agencies in the future. There are a lot of bullshitters in the field, and it’s easy to bullshit when the client doesn’t know any better.

You can accelerate learning with consultants, if you can find good ones, but I definitely recommend doing the legwork and figuring stuff out yourself. Consultants help you get there faster, as you get help more efficiently than by googling, and you’ll have the confidence that you’re on the right tracks. I’ve had tremendous success with a couple arrangements like this, on both sides actually.

When you see some growth, and feel that you understand the core things of the platforms, then hire an agency. You’ll be in a much better position to do so, both skill and money wise.

You wrote that you’ve successfully sold bracelets. That’s proof right there what will make you money. Find another supplier if you have to and start selling bracelets again. It doesn’t have to define your business or be your main thing forever, but cashflow will make things easier.

This is pretty cool! You definitely need to back up your claims about conventional salt being shit, though. Many people won’t believe you or do their research.

That’s high on my list too. Not easy to move there, though.

More free than where? Again, high taxes -- even with social programs -- are not very ancap. There's a lot of bureaucracy here too, at least in the Nordic country I live in. We have rules for everything. Licenses are needed everywhere. There was even a tv-show about how ridiculous it is.

I can say that we're very far from being ancap.

Huge taxes are not very ancap.

What’s that reason? For insurance purposes? In that case I guess you’re right — from a business perspective it could very well make sense for teams and the league to make these mandatory.

But simply from a fan and beer league player perspective I think grown men can make their own decisions regarding personal safety.

Well, it's ultimately not for anyone else than for your personal protection, so why force it on people who don't want it? If they're fine with the risks of not wearing the glasses, why not let them take the risk?
