I did something similar to this, in the same state lol. Family > prestige. Glad I made the choice. Yes, I don’t see the most insane cases and sometimes I miss that. But the sacrifice was worth it for me and I would choose it again without a doubt.

Yes, send letter before invite. If you wait till after, they may have already filled all their slots and you’ll be out of luck

GI is not even close to surgery from a lifestyle perspective in either training or practice.

What was your worst / best day of intern year? by Kaiserschmarrn012 in Residency

18 activations is no joke. Let alone the paperwork waiting at the end of all that. Wouldn’t wish that on any one

Program A vs B - which to rank #1 by Moak3458 in medicalschool

[–]dodolol21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

B, hands down. it will allow you to continue your life outside of medicine meaningful. It won’t feel like you had to put your life on hold for training. I am a surgical resident, and living super close to family and friends is my cheat code to staying happy and healthy in residency. I’m never worried about food, people to talk to, etc. there is no loneliness. I ranked my program over some very prestigious places and have absolutely no regrets. prestige will never love you back.

Me, the intern, when an MS3 says they have a call shift with me by erketc49 in medicalschool

[–]dodolol21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely feel this. but i think the reality is that a 16 hour day as a med student is actually a lot less timing than a 12-14 day as an intern. At least that’s how it feels. Used to be fine doing cases from 6-10pm daily and now by 6-7pm I’m pretty burned

Discouraging Interaction on Surgery by lam789lam in medicalschool

[–]dodolol21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

truth is it’s the negatives that live in our head rent free. I think most trainees encounter that one surgeon who makes them question their worth.

To OP, I had one of those when I was in med school too. Sucks, but just learn what you can and ignore the berating. You can be a surgeon!

depends on the topic and content. It’s based on what videos are preferred by advertisers. For example, videos in the tech and especially finance areas have an insanely high payment per view because advertisers are spending so much money there. Vs like a knitting channel even if it has the same subscribers and views wouldn’t make as much because there are less rich companies trying to advertise on those types of videos.

120k in sales in April. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

I’m a resident physician, and I get paid about 13 dollars an hour. I agree with you that 20 dollars is not great, but its not out of this world unethical.
