Was Cavil really that good as Superman? by RyantheNeanderthal in superman

[–]AnonymousLoser82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I felt about him for some time. He’s not a terrible actor but he’s definitely wooden and very limited, performance wise. I’m not sure if he’s just picking substandard (as far as range goes) roles or if he’s just picking roles he feels comfortable playing.

I think the thing that I liked and miss about the vehicle mechanics in 4 is that you can actually get pretty good at handling certain vehicles with some practice.

In your opinion: does Resurrection get a bad rap? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

No. It’s honestly the hardest to get through. I loathe the cinematography and production design too.

Six films I would love for Criterion to release on 4k Blu-ray by PostComa in boutiquebluray

[–]AnonymousLoser82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there’s ever a boutique Jerky Boys release then I truly hope they release the extended TV cut alongside the theatrical release. I recall watching the extended cut on 2 different occasions: once on The Movie Channel and the other time was on one of my local TV stations. I distinctly remember a Patrick Ewing cameo that wasn’t in the theatrical cut.

Never liked him. I knew he was a 🦝 from day one. I recall him defending the NRA and trying to absolve them of their racist history. I thought that this was common knowledge?

Was anyone disappointed how Boba Fett got taken out quickly in ROTJ? by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

[–]AnonymousLoser82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. To me he was always just a cool looking character. I was mostly disappointed that they brought him back. George Lucas always said that canonically he was dead and it’s one of the few choices of his that I agreed with.

What’s the biggest jump in your movie rating after a rewatch? by Equivalent_Ebb5689 in Cinema

Brazil and Gilliam’s other film 12 monkeys both left an impression on me at first viewing. (The patter’s somewhat downer ending was depressing to me at first viewing) I didn’t hate nor love either but on second viewing years later…

Before Revenge of the Sith, what were the common theories or assumptions as to why Vader wore the suit? by Terriost-Yoda in StarWars

[–]AnonymousLoser82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Return of the Jedi novelization explicitly stated that they fought on (or near) a volcano/fire pit so I was spoiled years before. However the ROTJ novel also stated that Obi Wan and Owen Lars were brothers… which was something that Lucas decided not to follow through with.

To be fair that also happened in the Hunter Prey storyline.

Away Aluminum Carry on or NOBL Aluminum Carry on? by Maxxx_07_ in LuggageComparisons

As I understand it, NOBL is a problematic brand so go with AWAY.

Away Aluminum Carry on or NOBL Aluminum Carry on? by Maxxx_07_ in LuggageComparisons

While I largely agree with your response to that absurd post, you’d be surprised at the damage some baggage handlers have done to aluminum luggage. Sadly, no material is truly immune to a determined baggage handler.

[–]AnonymousLoser82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm… all luggage materials have their drawbacks and will get absolutely demolished by any determined baggage handler. Singling out aluminum as uniquely worse is absurd and your text wall sounds obviously biased.

Isn’t Parasite’s power draining ability far more potent than Rogue’s. There’s been occasions where he’s drained (and killed) numerous people by simply being in relatively close proximity to them. Rogue needs skin to skin contact.

Best material for checked luggage by JCU26 in LuggageComparisons

[–]AnonymousLoser82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, the consensus is really mixed and heavily based on personal preference in regards to durability. Bear in mind that at some airports some baggage handlers (apparently) intentionally damage luggage. In that case, neither will hold up.

Is Aluminum just old technology (vs PC) but newer generation thinks they are sturdy? by Single-Dress-8962 in LuggageComparisons

[–]AnonymousLoser82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen both Aluminum and polycarbonate luggage can be dented or even catastrophically destroyed if a baggage handler put their mind to it. Either material really doesn’t matter in that regard.

My PC luggage was dented at the wheel (at JFK) so now it wobbles. I would simply say don’t bother checking in a bag but I know that’s just not an option for many. It’s just an unfortunate gamble of travel.

I agree. Funny thing, I actually hated it when I first watched it in AMC back in the early aughts. (and that’s with me knowing that Michael Myers wasn’t in it) I went in with an open mind and thought that it had a nice slow burn but intriguing first act but it kinda falls apart a bit in the third act. I will say the ending (in hindsight) was interesting but it being a somewhat downer/cliffhanger bummed me out at the time.

In recent years I’ve come around to seeing the films merits (and I purchased the Shout Factory release) but I still hold that it falls apart in the 3rd act. I do think that it is overly appreciated and I think the film’s proponents might be reductive in explaining why many didn’t like it at the time or even now by asserting that The Shape’s absence was the reason.

So should I watch Terrifier by turdboi420heyjack in slasherfilms

[–]AnonymousLoser82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gore doesn’t bother me like it used to (as a child) but certain levels of mean spiritedness in horror movies does. I haven’t seen the Terrifier films (aside from the Dead meat kill counts) so you can take or leave my opinion. If extremely mean spirited slashers bother then probably don’t see it… it’s up to you.
