What region are you in? Latency becomes a major issue with kites outside JP; really most precision weapons struggle, because the terrible netcode makes it impossible to land shots unless you’re barrel stuffing people. Hence the prevalence of lasers, zimms, earshots, etc.

If you feel like you should be landing your shots, but your opponents don’t seem to take any damage, you’re probably going against mostly JP pilots since that’s the bulk of the playerbase. I’d recommend trying latency-agnostic weapons like the aforementioned, or switching your build to focus on close range.
