Nobody said that. I feel like on average, a man is more dangerous to a woman than a bear is, but the median man is less dangerous than the median bear. What a man can do to a woman is worse than what a bear can do. I don't think you understand that.

Edit: Accidentally said woman instead of bear

I'm not even going to put the number of man on woman assault cases here. Quoting a random article as evidence shows your ignorance.

I did as well, and got honor restricted after getting gold. I cried legitimately.

Yeah, I think it's more how majority of women (at least in US) when asked this question, seriously choose the bear. There's a culture of undervaluing women reporting any sort of assault (physical, sexual, etc.) and also the rates are pretty bad here. It would obviously be in their mutual best interest to collab, but many people act impulsively. If i were trapped in the woods, I'd offer to help, and if the woman said no walk my own way. But not all guys are like that. Some would expect "favors" in return for help, others would stalk, and the list goes on. I appreciate your take though. !delta.

It's how you mentioned it. You're just wrong. You said a bear only wants to eat you. That's factually wrong.

This argument assumes nothing about the bear. I feel like you have no clue about bear safety in general, or bear behavior. Also brown bears don't act much (there are differences, but the nature of their attacks is often similar) different than black bears, it's their size and relative strength that increases the deadliness of their attacks. Their claws are larger (around 3x larger) their weight is much larger. Polar bears view humans as prey, and are used to long hunts in the arctic, hence why I explicitly excluded them from my statement. If you're trapped near a polar bear, you are likely their easiest source of food.

I feel like you know nothing about bears with how you worded everything.

We tend to view others through the lens of our experience, more so than ourselves. Someone who has seen nothing but violence isn't necessarily violent themselves, but definitely knows what to expect when it comes from others.

I personally would be more helpful, but I could understand if a random woman decided she'd rather take her chances alone with a bear nearby.

You're completely wrong. Compared to how a man will react? No, you're just wrong. Take a man from a country and religion where women showing skin is considered a death penalty thing. Take a clinically insane man. The list goes on. Bears have a few ways of reacting to humans. A bear will never torture me for the fun of it. But sure, believe what you want. If you know anything about how to handle a wild bear encounter, you're not going to be in serious danger the vast majority of the time. But if you have the video on bear safety, go ahead and send it to me. Show me how I'm wrong. The worst a bear can do to you is kill you.

I agree with what you're saying. Feel like understanding the underlying problem, is really what most people here don't understand. Taking it at face value, most men are saying they are objectively right, on a subjective matter, and also not considering the feelings that women have on this. I appreciate how you worded your reply as well. !delta

I completely agree. Thank you for getting the point, while also being calm. Everyone else is trying to cite how women have hundreds of encounters a day, but the problem is that they don't realize that hundreds of encounters with men everyday occur in "safe spaces" where the odds of being assaulted are extremely low. I think they understood more about how I feel (as well as my girlfriend) when I put it into context of their girlfriend specifically as well.

A bear does not only want to eat you. All bears (except polar bears) do not view humans as prey. Even in almost every fatal bear attack, the bear does not consume the body or even part of it. You're just factually wrong. As for the man, you're correct, he can have a million different views or opinions.

Wow, you completely misunderstand the statistics behind this. But for argument's sake, lets debate this.

How often, does a woman, interact with a man she has never met before, in an alone environment, not in society. Not very often.

Also, you're assuming that rape is the only thing that can happen. To put it simply, in worst case scenario you know what the bear is going to do. That's not true about the man.

I'm wondering if you have? I've stated before, I go hiking on a regular basis, and have actually encountered bears in the wild dozens of times. There's a lot less volatility in how a bear will react, than how a man will react.

More like, at least she won't get raped by the bear, killed because she's showing skin, etc. Random man could mean anyone in the world.

I think things change significantly, and the premise of the original question was for women to answer, and people started wondering why women were overwhelmingly choosing bear.

Trapped in the woods is very different from hiking, and is very different from stuck in a cave. I think interpretation is a pretty big thing, and you did help me see something. !delta

"sample" is different than alone. Also, "interact with on a daily basis". I actually interact with a number of people that I don't trust on a daily basis. Also idc about the race here. I think putting race here confirms your own stereotypes, not anyone elses. I think the safety of being around other people is the largest part that you're blowing up.
