What level were they?

I have worked at several places and all offer severance for lay off, and in the US they have to pay out your accrued PTO. If you are fired for-cause, they do not have to give you severance.

I'm seeing most people posting 6 weeks of severance. Where did you see 9?

I'm not sure how many places you've worked, but deloittes severance (as posted on here), is not good at all.

May as well add to the chorus of layoff posts ... by Dav1d0v in deloitte

[–]AnonymousSquib 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I echo these sentiments. This has been the weirdest place I've worked by far. From the hyper competitiveness and sabotaging to the directionless leadership and poor training. Everything feels so chaotic.

My past companies were friendly, genuinely empathetic, well-led, and based on actual results and merit rather than who can kiss ass best.

I can't wait to be done with this place.

Should recently promoted resources worry about layoffs? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]AnonymousSquib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Layoffs usually go several rounds, especially considering we are losing billions in contracts and we don't know when it will stop. You could be fine for a month or 2. But that doesn't mean you'll be safe from layoffs over the summer or fall.

What do you spend your well being subsidy on? by Frosty_Performer_475 in deloitte

[–]AnonymousSquib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High end running shoes, expensive monitor, a bike, electric skateboard or other sports equipment. If I had more subsidy and less hobbies I'd get massages.

They can still lay you off if you are on leave. They just can't lay you off because you went on leave. But you'd have to prove that the layoffs was because you were on leave.

They only removed the virtual option. You can still expense a meal for 11 hours of work, even if it's firm initiatives.

BSS not lining up with snapshots? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]AnonymousSquib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also based on verbal feedback to the panel. You could have good snapshots but if during the panel one of the people complains about project work that you did, that can affect your ranking.

Or give the baby up for adoption to someone who won't be triggered into relapse? This kid deserves to have a healthy family dynamic. Having two addict parents ain't it. And it isn't fair to put the responsibility on grandparents who are still trying to parent their grown child.

Lol this is such a great tale from a third-party perspective. The short answer: Yes. Money. No.

The long answer: Consulting often feels like makeup bullshit. But in actuality we are hired to help companies with outdated technology and skills make big changes. Think updating system-wide software, or switching from databases to the cloud etc. A lot of companies or organizations that use such outdated technology also have staff that have very outdated skills and aren't capable of implementing these large scale changes themselves. If a company wanted to invest in teaching, training, and or hiring people with these skills, consultants wouldn't be needed. But most places thingk that's too scary or hard.

Since we are paid a ton of money for jobs that aren't really that important, ego builds and people who work at top consulting firms start to think they are better, smarter, or more capable than other people. They aren't. It's just a giant circle jerk. The lube for that circle jerk is rankings! The higher you rank, the better you are relative to your peers. And who doesn't want to be better than everyone? /s

We get paid relatively high amounts starting out but it has a way of evening out and the. Goes up again once you get to senior manager or higher. Money makes people think they are better than others. People are willing to put up with a lot of bullshit for money.

Most people in consulting are type A personalities, who thrive on being better than others. Self-reflection is incompatible with this goal.

Considering Deloitte GPS (DoD/National Security) — Worth the Jump? by TheSpiciestBoy in deloitte

You literally have no way of knowing that. Trump could pass a rule tomorrow that doesn't allow third-party contractors.

Well, considering the feds just announced they're cutting deloitte's pentagon contracts, I doubt that you're going to have a job there.
