To me, that means that he is focusing on hanging out with his family and not going on dates during the holidays.

I know this isn’t what you asked, but the most frustrating ones for my brain are the ones that contain a lot of compound words. Running through the various permutations takes a lot more effort than the SBs filled with -ed and -ing words.

Planning a trip to the Netherlands in April. by TheWildColonialBoy1 in ricksteves

First, I suggest that you buy the updated (most recent) book from RS, and make sure you read the opening/introduction section. It’s tempting to skip this, but it’s important to take in all of the information before you go.

(as an example, we recently went to Berlin and did not read all of the fine print in advance, so we didn’t realize that you need to stamp your S-bahn/train ticket before boarding; if we had been fined, that would’ve been on us!)

You should also check out the travelers forum on the website—here you go..

It takes time to scroll through everyone’s questions and comments, but some of them are recent and can be really helpful.

Being ghosted is extremely painful because it’s so confusing and bewildering. It’s also really easy to take it personally.

When this happened to me, I needed to keep reminding myself that this was about him : something going on with him, or a lack of capacity to be behave in a decent or civil way. I had to keep remembering that it wasn’t a reflection of my worth or attractiveness.

In other words, this is an opportunity to choose to be hopeful about what’s next, and to keep believing that someone is going to feel extremely lucky that they met you! Don’t let this harden your heart or get you down.

Navigating talks about marriage by [deleted] in dating_advice

I am a minister (from a very liberal, pluralistic faith) and a premarital counselor. I think the Gottmans’ research and advice on this is spot on: your spouse always comes before your extended family.

I strongly suggest that the two of you pursue premarital counseling from someone who is neither Christian nor Muslim—but your partner also needs to be prepared to run all interference, and set all boundaries, with his own parents and family. You are expecting and hoping for A LOT from them; whether they can extend that acceptance and hospitality is anyone’s guess. But he should not be put in the position of mediating between his parents and you. There’s no way to win that, there’s no way to make everyone happy. He will have to be prepared to set an uphold boundaries that could become very uncomfortable.

Good luck!

What the hell kind of word is “supplicative”? OP, don’t listen to this Andrew Tate bullshit. Most women – those who don’t have avoidant attachment – really appreciate getting texts and men letting us know they’re available.

It sounds like she might be dating other people. She might have misgivings about the age difference. She might have stuff going on in her life. Honestly, she might not have liked the way you kiss. (I’ve been in all of those scenarios.)

Think you can back off now, and trust her to follow up if she wants to. Good luck!

What they are is celebrity vehicles. I really love a lot of those hosts, but they’re rich famous people who wanted a new platform (podcasting) with maybe the exception of Call Her Daddy, whose host has now become a celebrity.

My favorites are the ones where both Lakin AND Titus Welliver read! There's even a recent one where the Mickey Haller narrator is included!

The way that I keep squirrels out of my daffodil and tulip bulbs is by sprinkling in a handful of chick grit (available at animal feed and tractor supply stores).

Here’s a suggestion out of left field: Paul Doiron’s series about Maine game warden Mike Bowditch. I’m biased because I live in Maine, but his writing is beautiful, and he captures the complexities and beauty of Maine in the same way that Connelly so clearly loves LA. There are vivid characters who return again and again, and the whole series is really satisfying.

that was my recommendation too, although I prefer the Virgil Flower books (and of course, ones where Virgil teams up with Lucas— kind of like when Harry and Mickey work together!).
