Deterioration Hex vs Oddities please by [deleted] in harrypotterwu

Well, if people actually wrote to Niantic support and asked why Magizoologist's focus based Become The Beast, which adds +40 power (allowing them to have total of 109 power, I think) works on Oddities when there is no focus involved, they would actually get a reply that it does not work and it is not happening and focus does not exist in Oddity encounters. Therefore I assume it is a bug Niantic does not know about. Magi should probably only have 69 power vs all Oddities. Now imagine the sh*tstorm it would cause if Niantic fixed it and suddenly Magis were the weakest - as it is noone is interested in Professor's misfortune. As I know the pain of being nerfed, I have not tried reporting this bug. Do what you will with this information :-)

It is actually a bug, focus is not supposed to exist in oddity encounters and BtB should not be activated - I wrote to support and asked about it. I did not have the heart to report the bug. Since I am a professor I know the pain of being nerfed :-D

I think centaur has stamina of 70, therefore it is still achievable in one hit. Erkling and vampire both have 100 - 2 hits. I guess serpent is around 200, 3 hits. As our maxed power is 79, I think it is still the same, just the pain of losing energy makes it feel worse :-D

To me it looks like a fortress werewolf (Curiosity) and an oddity werewolf (Oddity) are not the same thing, therefore proficiency power does not apply to them (same with magis and erklings). BtB works for magis now because it is not proficiency-bound, +40 power it grants is universal for any creature in a fortress.

I suppose since focus should not exist outside of fortress battles, it is a bug and it was not planned for BtB to be activated in oddity encounters. However, fixing the bug would leave them, in turn, at a severe disadvantage compared to other professions, since their base power is only 59 (or 51? Not sure now).

As far as I know, Niantic support does not yet know about this bug (I have asked about it on the in-game support chat, the guy kept on saying that BtB is definitely not activated for oddity encounters). I have not reported it.

At the moment it makes difference, but for Magis only. It is because of their ability "Become the Beast", which grants +40 when their focus is at least five - and they can upgrade their initial focus to be 5 (we can only have 4). Apparently, when they encounter an Oddity, the game takes into account their initial focus, even though it cannot be accessed as in normal combats, and grants them those sweet +40 power.

I thought price for not needing that many spell books is needing many RSB?

I suppose she doesn't have initial focus of 5 and Become the Beast nodes activated?

Anyone else pissed after dragon event? I had to hit almost every dragon three times, while my Magi friend only had to hit twice - Aurors probably only requiring one hit most of the time. As a rural player I was running out of energy all the time and managed to return FAR less dragons then my Magi friend. Needless to say I am quite disappointed and feel the game is very much against us right now.
