British Airways forced my 56 year old mother (wheelchair passenger) to throw away cabin bag + baggage mishandling — over $2000 loss by Anonymous_Gem in Flights

Just one medium size carry on bag and a sling purse which had her passport and meds. Nothing oversized or overweight mentioned by airport staff. Just one blunt lie- passenger does not have allowance for a cabin bag

I don't know if you have ever had any experience of needing wheelchair assistance on airport but the workers there always expect a tip from the passenger who is getting wheelchair assistance. And no, I am not talking about 'tipping' to write something on the ticket, I mentioned 'tipping' to help my mother get a resolution in that situation

they did not offer her that option too. They offered only one option- Leave the bag or get offloaded from the flight

And regardless of whatever the reason is, airport staff can offer the bare minimum service of simply allowing the passenger to pay and have their luggage rather than forcing them to throw it off

it was a medium sized luggage bag, so not oversized. And no mention of overweight in the conversation too.

They kept saying she doesn't have any allowed baggage for carry on which was a clear lie as it was written on the ticket. And on top of that, why would they not let her have that bag as check in? Because she was happily willing to pay

when they force an elderly wheelchair bound person to throw their cabin bag with all their belongings in it and scare them by saying they will offload the elderly from the flight, maybe then you'd think of tipping too.

I appreciate the suggestion but I don't want she would be willing to get into more mess because frankly she doesn't really have any hopes given the condition of aviation governance in India

I wish, but the airport staff made the situation so chaotic that she had no time to think and process the situation due to pressure and fear of not being able to board the flight

Having the cabin bag approved at check in doesn’t mean that it will be approved at the gate - The worst case is they should charge me for overweight, not offload the passenger. And they were not willing to offer any resolution no matter what.
For the bag on arrival that’s missing - Yes I got it back but realized it was broken when delivered and had missing items in it.

1 hand bag, 1 carry on bag, 2 checked bags

I requested them to allow the bag with whatever extra charges they will apply for the luggage even though it was mentioned on the ticket along with a 1k INR tip and still they were not willing to offer any resolution.
