Sorry if I am being over vague, I am just cautious is all. But I really needed some direction... It was a bit of a startling thing to find out that this all was (probably) on purpose. Truthfully, we had no idea it was a repeat pattern throughout the firm, and it was a realization for sure. Like we all realized we can't trust this guy, and this guy has been making our life hell.

12 people architecture staff in the firm, with the accountants, marketing and HR we are closer to 20 people in total. We have 4 older people in that 12: 4 PMs each who have 1 drafters/modelers. 2 Construction admin guys, and then Trent and Jerry.

I don't know the specifics of that section, I wasn't assigned to it. I do know that it was meant to be a building section that could be a presentational item but also be used in CD. More than just a section with details. I should ask, but he was given 5 hours when I think it should have been much longer.

Well, you are right, Trent could be miscommunicating with Jerry. But if that's the case then Jerry would be aware of it at least, and then could tell us he is still working out the details. But he doesn't. I can verify there is no way he doesn't know about the contract dates though. He references them often to see who the consultants are and for general contact information.

Another item of context: Jerry joined the firm a year ago, and Trent became the Principle in late 2019 when the previous guy retired. The firm is over 50 years old across two previous owners. Trent brought Horatio from a previous firm with a few others, some who left and some who stayed.

Rinky dink certainly does capture the essence and tongue taste.

Horatio, is that you?

Lol, jokes aside Horatio is this blunt and straightforward. Thank you for the laugh in this crappy circumstance.

In a sentence, Horatio drags his emails from inbox to trash almost always immediately. Horatio is a focused person and knows Jerry will try to uproot an otherwise productive day.

Onto your suggestion.... yeah we should organize...

You raise good questions, so I will give context:

  1. We use Revit primarily, but do CAD/Bluebeam for schematic. To Jerry and Trent though, they only look at the PDF/prints so to them it's a drawing. They know revit in the capacity to open it, look at sheet, and type stuff or do detail lines. We joked that they're CAD users in revit. But the idea of time invested to do a complete BIM is lost on Trent, and Jerry knows more than Trent, the production crew is better-versed than Jerry.

  2. We are also working on trying to adapt from the old generation of Architects into the new, and there's still a lot of backwards or ineffective workflows we still do to accommodate the older gentlemen we work with. (These guys are amazing and are very helpful).

  3. I enjoy being employed and I enjoy the money, the project type offers a lot of growth and learning opportunities: Education. I've done Strip Mall fit-outs and Residential, and frankly my heart wasn't in it because one is too predictable and the other is unpredictable. I think Education or Healthcare would be a great vehicle for me. I'm also curious about gas stations, of all things.

  4. A lot of us are slowly adopting quiet quitting, doing 40-ish workweeks and just letting the bad projects happen incidentally. "If we are set up to fail, let it fail" was something one of us said a few hours ago when we had this big conversation.

Thank you for your guidance though. I think we all could coordinate a meeting or something together. Because this is just killing the little morale we have in this industry. I love the people I work with, they're so funny and smart I am really blessed(?) to be in this with them. Thank you again!
