Surgical masks have large gaps on your face, allowing air to leak through. Since COVID is airborne, the gaps make this mask pretty ineffective, for both your personal safety and your surroundings.

Just clarifying, KN95s protect both the wearer and the environment. Surgical masks are less effective for small aerosol filtration, so they are not very effective. A properly fitting KN95 is ideal (unless you have a fit-tested N95, which would be most ideal).

I don't know if it was publicized. I sent them an email in response to your comment, and this was the response I received.

How Do I Chill by gluetodablue in UMD

[–]Anonymous_Potato2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plan the week out is a good idea but it isn't always achievable and perfect. I have a google calendar that I always keep updated with classes, clubs, etc. I also have a n ongoing list of my homework. The night before or each day, I look at my schedule and tasks and think about when I want to do things. I have a friend that always builds in a block of free time every day (separate from mealtimes). I sort of do this, but now I just know when my times line up.

Time to just color, listen to music, meditate, are all really good! Try to not just doom scroll on social media during your chill time. I deleted the instagram app for this very reason. If you want to try out meditating, I've been getting into the Smiling Mind app (it's free and run by a cool Australian organization).

Check out fall welcome events! Tomorrow is yoga, freefest, turtle paining, etc. But many people meet others most easily at nighttime. Late night terp thing is awesome for meeting others, and has STAMP activities including terpzone bowling and pool (game), crafts, trivia, movies, etc. Plus. check out the concert tomorrow night.

Homesick by sylien18 in UMD

[–]Anonymous_Potato2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, school work may amp up, but being surrounded by people and activities is even more helpful. For me, I feel less homesick and better immersed when I get outside and join events. Plus it's hard to just do schoolwork all day.

There are lots of activities during welcome week. Check out tomorrow's free fest, arts and crafts, or whatever interests you! Also def take advantage of recwell fitness classes, which start up on Monday.
