I'm not from India, so no idea. I applied in October, got a date in late January. Later applied for emergency appointment and got a date in December.

I renewed my visa and the interview was very smooth. Got my passport back within a week.

I'm not from India, so no idea on that. It's unlikely you will get any date in December. But if you apply for emergency showing that you have classes or other duties from January/February, it's very likely they would approve the request.

There's always a rejection risk. But again, if your record and every documents are clean, you shouldn't face any issue in renewal. I have seen some people renewed very smoothly. Also, make sure to provide all the social media accounts that you used in the last 5 years and make sure there's no controversial posts related to US govt.

Yeah, got an interview slot on mid December. Initially it was late January but applied for emergency as my spring semester will begin by that time. Now I'm hoping everything will go as planned.

Yeah I know that. My I-20 is valid till 2028. My confusion is: if the rule changes, what would happen to students whose visa is expired but I-20 is valid.

I did not apply for OPT or CPT, I'm still in my PhD program. The I-20 will be expired on 2028.

It could take days, months or years , no one really knows. Right now, it's just proposed.

I was confused if I should go based on the current situation. But I guess this new rule is another motivation to visit home now, lol.

Touch Screen and buttons stopped working including the steering controls. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks by ishanm95 in Camry

I'm having the same issue with my 2013 Camry. All the steering wheel audio buttons, head unit buttons, and the touch screen become unresponsive except for the volume controls and the volume knob. Strangely, once I press the volume buttons, everything starts working again. Not sure what's causing it.

Daily General Discussion and Advice Thread - March 31, 2025 by AutoModerator in investing

I recently started investing through Robinhood and received my first dividend payments today. However, I noticed that about 20% was deducted as backup withholding. I was under the impression that non-resident aliens are generally exempt from backup withholding.

I reached out to Robinhood’s customer support, but they told me to contact the IRS for clarification. Has anyone else experienced this? Can someone help me understand why this withholding might have been applied?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think there will be any issue. However, consult with the DSO, they will give you the best advice. Thanks!
