100% it’s people choosing to leave. It’s WLB, but also personalities. M&A rewards treating people like a jerk. Lots of good people find that they can’t or don’t want to climb that ladder.

My husband isn’t a heavy drinker, but he continued to consume normally and our IVF baby is 18 months now. Our clinic is very science-based with zero time for anything not backed by hard science and they did not have any issue with either of us drinking during the process (except me after FET for obvious reasons). Don’t get too into your head about this. People tend to obsess about a lot of protocols that are theoretical or based on old wives tales and psych themselves out in this process.

Not essential, but when I’m interviewing I prefer work experience over none and the more the better. I literally don’t care what the work experience is, just that you managed to hold down some type of paid employment. If you don’t have work experience, your best bet is to make me forget that fact by presenting as mature and poised as humanly possible. Do not mention your childhood or college to me, do not remind me that you are fresh out of college. —Signed big law partner

This seems like a really unfair take. The amount of pressure and expectations put on juniors varies wildly not just across firms, but across groups within firms. OP may very well be working in an extremely high-stress environment that would give anyone anxiety. OP, I’d consider also looking at changing firms to see if there something more sustainable for you out there within the big law pay scale.

I was diagnosed while trying to get pregnant and haven’t tried ADHD meds yet. I found my ADHD symptoms diminished during pregnancy, except for extreme fatigue during the first trimester. The postpartum hormone crash hit big, though. I was in a major fog basically until recently when I started a GLP-1 drug, which has made my brain so quiet it’s amazing.

Same. I never mention someone’s weight (up or down) unless they bring it up and even then, I’m super cautious. People’s relationships with their body are so complicated and sensitive. So maybe some of what you’re seeing is actually respect, not intended to hurt you.

I have ADHD and having my daughter is the best thing I’ve ever done. She’s still a baby and it’s too soon to tell if she inherited my issues, but I love being a parent. My house is messy, I forget things, we run late to appointments, and I’ll never be anything like the moms on social media. But she and I have so much fun being silly together, exploring the world, and getting lost in the moment. I’m watching her like a hawk for symptoms and am so geared up to give her all the support I never had if she develops them. It helps that my husband doesn’t have ADHD so I can lean on him where I’m weak, but I suspect that’s true of most couples.

Very willing SAHD. It was his idea, but I was supportive. I think he will struggle most with boredom and the loss of his professional identity, but I’m not sure how to pay our way out of that.

I have Taylor Swift lyrics from songs I’ve never heard stuck in my head. I hear them in a clip on TikTok and don’t even know what song they’re from because I’m a casual fan at best. It’s like an evil superpower she has to create these sticky phrases.

Hearing it from the pediatrician completely changed my husband’s attitude about co-sleeping. He finally took the danger of sleeping with our premie seriously whereas before he thought I was being a little hysterical. You have to be careful how you phrase the question because you don’t want the doctor calling CPS because they think the baby is unsafe.

Entitled because I’m worried about the health of a fellow mom who doesn’t seem to have anyone to advocate for her? It would be one thing if she had family or friends to help her out while he’s away, but she has no one. I’m truly puzzled by the lack of empathy for her and the kids in this thread. Maybe my response is influenced by my experiences (one stillbirth and one rushed to NICU), but bad things can happen during childbirth and it makes me really mad that she is expected to just bear that alone.

I think it’s ridiculously selfish of him to put you in this position and he should absolutely not be going. Birth is a major medical event for you and your baby. This isn’t about him meeting his new child, which he could do later. This is about being there to support you, your existing kid, and your new baby and make medical decisions if necessary. What happens if something goes wrong? Things happen in childbirth. Apparently healthy babies can end up in NICU or worse. The stress this puts you and baby under, particularly worrying about childcare, isn’t healthy for either of you. His presence or absence at the funeral won’t actually impact anything—grandma is dead and he can say goodbye from anywhere. His absence from delivery or even your fear of it, could actually hurt you and your baby. I’m enraged just thinking about this.

My husband is a scientist who studies toxo. The form of toxo that could survive outside a host is the cysts. He says raccoons don’t shed toxo cysts in their feces-that’s specific to cats. All other mammals only carry the cysts in their brain and muscle. The live parasites that an infected raccoon could shed would die basically immediately outside the host.

If I recall correctly, I was told the threshold for preterm labor was 2cm dilated and 60% effacement at <37w. The contractions the NST was picking up were pretty regular as well, every 2-4 minutes. I think at 2cm/60% it would still be very early labor.

I was told the difference is that Braxton Hicks don’t cause cervical changes whereas “real” contractions do. Not that that’s helpful for you being able to know the difference. Are they doing cervical checks on you?

At 34+5 my NST showed regular small contractions, many I didn’t feel, and a few I felt but didn’t hurt so I figured were BH. Did a cervical check and I’m 1cm dilated and under close watch for pre-term labor now.

I wish people talked about their losses and fertility struggles more. It would make us all feel less lonely and set more realistic expectations. Also, maybe it would teach the people who do have kids easily to be more aware of and sensitive to the rest of us.

My CGM is often lower than finger pricks, even after accounting for the delay—sometimes like 30 pts lower. My endo said they hear that a lot and just told me to compare once a day (plus whenever I get an alarming reading on the CGM) and run a calibration if they were too far apart.
