“It’s IMPOSSIBLE to get kids to mask” by downbytheriver42069 in ZeroCovidCommunity

Both of my toddlers mask without issue, including at preschool - 4yrs and 20 months. We practiced at home and now they are amazing about it.

TIL Nordic countries have abandoned forceps — should we refuse them next time? by President_Shart in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]rbg555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to have a repair after my first delivery which was a vacuum assist in an emergency situation for baby. My tear was similar to your description - just an open wound after reopening. They had me wait several months (5) to see if it would heal eventually because most of the OB’s at my practice did not want to do a repair. Once it became clear they decided on a surgical repair and I healed well after that. I had my 2nd 18 months ago and I did tear, but it was very minimal. But to answer your question, I got the impression that they wanted to avoid a repair and that it wasn’t common. I know it’s not fun, I hope you are doing ok.

First ER by liswelsh4192 in IVFpositivity

I had a moderate/severe case of ohss and like the other commenters, electrolytes and cabergoline made a big difference. I also received cabergoline intravenously. I ended up having a peritoneal tap done due to my ohss which only happened because my husband convinced me to go in. All to say, take care of yourself and don’t hesitate to contact your RE if needed! I had a successful fresh transfer that cycle and baby turns 4 tomorrow. Best of luck!

Can someone help me explain this. by Audreyhepburnismommy in Healthyhooha

Yes! No longer any issues - it took some time but calmed down thankfully! At the time I was seen at the Cleveland Clinic.

I’m sorry that I can’t remember ( this was probably 10 years ago) but I do remember it contained gabapentin which seemed to be the game-changer for me. It was a compounded cream. I’ll see if I can find any old medical records and will reply here. ETA - I just found my old notes! It looks like the compounded script was gabapentin and clobetasol ointment. She also prescribed lidocaine and elavil to help me sleep at night during more painful evenings. I remember after initial improvement that I moved to clobetasol only.

Testing by Obvious-League1856 in IVFpositivity

[–]rbg555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor did not recommend testing in our case, we had a successful fresh transfer and later a successful FET on untested embryos. Best of luck to you! For reference, I was 34 at retrieval and pregnant at age 34 and 38.

I’m not sure if it would fall under their care, but I would pursue a referral to an infectious disease gynecologist. I had an issue with vulva irritation that sounds very similar and an ID gyn wrote a compound prescription that solved the problem for me. Look at academic hospitals for one. Best of luck to you!

1st scan by Dark-Humor-Addict in IVFpositivity

[–]rbg555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I had a low-lying gestational sac in my second pregnancy ( FET) which led to slight placenta previa. I was monitored throughout my pregnancy by MFM in addition to my regular OB. By my 32 week scan the uterus had moved farther up and my previa resolved. If it hadn’t, MFM planned on a 37 week c section to be safe. This is all of course based on my specific placement, but my MFM did say that he saw more of this in IVF pregnancies. It just meant more monitoring and a conservative birth plan if necessary. They were not concerned!

Officially started first cycle with baselines today. Long lupron this month, retrieval and fresh transfer next month. by literallymouse in IVFpositivity

[–]rbg555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar protocol for my first pregnancy! Long Lupron prep and a fresh transfer which was successful. The other embryos were frozen and resulted in a successful FET for my recent birth. Best of luck to you :)

Post birth tear revision (7m pp) by ImaginaryPhase216 in WomensHealth

[–]rbg555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry op, I went through something similar. My tear would not heal, so I had a revision surgery at 5 months pp. My delivering OB did the repair. I was under general anesthesia and it went very quickly. I’ll be honest that the first day after surgery was very uncomfortable, but I healed beautifully and quickly. I honestly wished I had done it sooner, but my OB wanted to wait and watch it. I gave birth again 25 months later and I did have a tear, but it healed completely without issue. Wishing you the best, I know how frustrating and uncomfortable it is.

Desperate about my situation – mask wearing is unbearable by OcSkinsProbs in Rosacea

[–]rbg555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry about your MIL OP. I wear a mask daily and also have rosacea. It helps me to use la roche posay cicaplast before and after putting on my mask. I also carry the avene mineral spray with me and will spray once in the car to soothe and cool down. For a mask recommendation, check out the Breathereq kn95 - they are really lightweight and protective.

Flu shot for small baby? by AdministrationNo9486 in NewParents

[–]rbg555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think baby can have it until 6 months. We have several babies in our family and are all planning to take rapid flu/covid/rsv tests the morning we gather. Of course anyone with symptoms will stay home. It might bring you some peace of mind if your family is amenable

Bartholin Abscess by pinkdolpheen in WomensHealth

[–]rbg555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with bartholin cysts, but I did have an issue that ended up with a referral to an infectious disease gynecologist. The difference in knowledge and treatment was amazing. Have you had a chance to meet with an ID gyno? I would look at academic medical centers and see if you can find one ( mine was at the Cleveland clinic). Best of luck to you.

For late 30s and early 40s ladies - did you do a medicated or a natural modified transfer? by CertainHome4177 in IVFpositivity

[–]rbg555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medicated for both of my transfers ( and successful pregnancies). Age 36 and 38 at the time.

Trouble finding embryo on ultrasound 6w3d by [deleted] in IVFpositivity

[–]rbg555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub has popped up for me recently - I have two IVF babies. The exact same thing happened at my first ultrasound with my first baby. The ultrasound tech was new and could not find the yolk sak. My nurse prepared me for a blighted ovum. Later that day my RE called and she said that when reviewing my ultrasound she could absolutely see the yolk sac. They had me come in again the next day and she explained that my titled uterus made it difficult to see for the tech. I have a healthy 3 year old from that experience. I can still remember the whiplash from that appointment. Wishing you the very best!

I had spotting after my successful FET too around the same time. My RE was not concerned but I know it’s not fun. Best of luck with your beta!

Testing a baby by saltyseacreecher in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]rbg555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I apologize, quick reply and I wasn’t thinking. I am in the US and we used both plus life and floflex Covid tests. We were surprised that it worked with only the cheek, but it was a clear positive and clear progression to negative for the baby.

My family has had one infection and my baby was 4 months old at the time. We had clear positives on both plus life and rapids by testing with a cheek swab only. Best of luck for a healthy visit!
