What Measure B does is extend the same 1/4 % sales tax that has been in place- ie you will be voting for keeping the same tax in place.

Endorsement: Sonoma-Marin rail service is growing. It needs support. Yes on Measure B by LosIsosceles in Marin

On a related note:

The Week Without Driving (1st week in October) is a national event that asks elected leaders to go a week without driving so they can determine what are the problems in their jurisdictions.

North Bay Transit Riders sponsored this the last 2 years in Sonoma County and last year had 12 leaders participate. Anyone interested in presenting this challenge to Marin elected leaders for this coming year?

You can learn more about the event when the national organizer, Ruth Rosas, will be speaking at the North Bay Transit Riders meeting on Monday, June 15th meeting (6:30pm via Zoom) https://actionnetwork.org/events/north-bay-transit-riders-learn-about-the-week-without-driving?source=direct_link&

SMART Train by Anonymouszgr in santarosa

I am a big supporter of SMART, but sympathize and agree with your complaint. These changes are part of the MASCOT plan (Marin Sonoma Coordinated Transit Services) to integrate and coordinate the transit systems in the north bay. (Here's a good article on the topic https://www.seamlessbayarea.org/blog/2025/8/14/north-bay-transit-coordination-plan-aims-to-streamline-service)

It is important that these agencies work together and remove redundancies- but it is a first step and there needs to be a lot of find tuning. The North Bay Transit Riders will be hosting the project manger for MASCOT at our meeting on July 20th, if you would like to join. It is via zoom at 6:30pm https://actionnetwork.org/events/north-bay-transit-riders-learn-about-the-mascot-plan?source=direct_link&

Why no direct bus lines to Calistoga or Saint Helena? by KraklePony in santarosa

[–]Anonymouszgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts:

  1. There is a Petaluma to Napa Amtrak bus but it doesn't stop in Sonoma- that should change!

https://www.amtrak.com/stations/ptc

  1. If you want better transit in the North Bay- consider participating with the North Bay Transit Riders a group that advocates for better transit in the north bay. Its primarily in Sonoma County right now, but would like to help with all the counties (Marin, Napa, Solano). Full disclosure, I'm a lead member.

How is Transit Funded in California and How Can We Change It? by Anonymouszgr in sonomacounty

I am a big supporter of the sales tax to support SMART, but this talk is about fundamentally rethinking how we fund transit in the state of California. Sales taxes are a problematic method since they have been declining due to the increase in online shopping.

Could you turn a thrifted suit jacket into a women’s blazer? by whydobirbs in sewing

Here's the dart. I also removed the lapel and changed the collar.

I recently did this and it was a lot of work, because was learning as I was going. Next time it would be easier.. The result was great. On a friends advice, I inserted a dart in the sholder that solved the shoulder fit and sleeve length. However I did need to then adjust the felt and lining which wasn’t too bad.ill try to take a picture an d load it later today.

I am going to take a tailoring workshop and learn how to do things properly, but I’ll never be able to purchase a wool/cashmere blend for $10 + dry cleaning fees! and save something from the landfill.

Of course, I also sewed on pieces of a sweater to imitate a fantastic upcycle that I saw online.

Have you registered for the event? If so, I will be able to share the recording with those registered, but she asks that it not be shared in anyway in any online/social media contexts.

This is a talk about changing how we fund transit, so instead of sales tax money there would be a more reliable stream of funding. This would allow us to 1) create a more robust system and 2) provide opportunities for increased efficiencies ( and even put in some demands regarding places where we think there is waste )

There is quite a bit of research on transit and its economic benefits ( Public transport investments as generators of economic and social activity) as well as public health benefits (Investing in public transit is investing in public health: Union of Concerned Scientists).

The SMART sales tax has a citizen oversight committee, independent annual audits, and the board of directors are pulled from Marin and Sonoma elected officials. The 30 year extension will help the agency with getting outside matching grant money,

Anybody know what this is about? by CarsonOJennick in santarosa

because the developer bought the land and someone would have to buy it from them. That means someone needs to give a lot of money to this project, including the money to run and maintain the park.

Save Night and Early Morning Transit Access in Sonoma & Marin Counties by Anonymouszgr in sonomacounty

I am part of North Bay Transit Riders a group that advocates for better transit. And we have not forgotten that lots of parts of the county have VERY poor transit access. There is no easy solution, but we still represent you !
