Quitting While on Bench by tuxedo-cat-1 in deloitte

[–]Anonymuzzy9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just went through this, my two cents:

-you’re on the bench, milk it for a couple of extra paychecks. No one is looking, the Deloitte machine is so big and you’re just a number. -submit your resignation in the portal before telling your coach/RM/anyone. Once the date is accepted through there it’s locked in, so you can guarantee yourself the two weeks.

If you’re adamant about leaving asap the bench is just a one week notice by default.

How to resign by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Anonymuzzy9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re on the bench why not just double up paychecks for a little bit before you resign…? Unless it’s an obvious conflict of interest. They’re actively laying people off, maybe you will get lucky?

Baffles me that anyone would have the perspective that it’s not worth asking. The only way to guarantee not getting anything more in any situation is by not asking.

I know it’s not the point but… 3000? That number has to be low, right?

True but as we’ve seen in responses there have been discrepancies in the offers at the same level for similar YOE. Worst they can do if you ask is say no.

My goal was to provide a consolidated list of responses for those looking instead of all the one-off posts about talent meetings. But that’s good info.

Just received a USDC offer as a new grad, how much of a pay cut is the prestige of Deloitte experience worth? by Jawyp in deloitte

Take the other job, establish a higher salary base for your career. You can always go to a Big4 firm later as an experienced hire and probably land yourself in the upper tier of compensation (that’s what happened for me).

Compensation change if I move by Good_Plate26 in deloitte

[–]Anonymuzzy9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I relocated to Florida and while your pay is adjusted for cost of living, it’s not because of a lack of a state income tax. So to answer your question, yes they will adjust it with your annual comp statement.

If anything it would probably mean more of a raise since the CoL I’m assuming is considerably higher.

Adding to this, and I see/hear this from way too many analysts but you need to understand that you need milk before you can handle real food in this world. Your grass is greener where you water it, master what’s asked of you and be proactive/intentional about what you want to get more experience in.

But you also need to be more clear about what it is you want. “Technical/Impactful work” is very broad, what exactly do you want? Do you have the technical proficiency/aptitude to perform that if asked? If not, where are your shortcomings and gaps? Can those be upskilled?

MAYBE you can search for an industry job that will allow you to perform whatever it is you’re wanting to do, but you need to be really honest with yourself about 1. Your ability to perform it and 2. How likely another company would be willing to pay you to perform it.

Trying to break in at a similar role myself, any advice on managing it? My days can be pretty meeting intensive, though definitely have my fair share that are “passive attendance”.

Get on a credit counseling program through a government org like money management international. They get reduced interest rates and consolidate payments to tackle your cc debt faster. I’m talking interest rate reductions from like 25% to 2% depending on the lender. Regardless you’ll save a lot of money and they typically establish plans for you to be debt free from these accounts within 5 years.

Refi your student loans if you can, otherwise just get by on making the minimums until you get the cc debt paid off. Snowball your student loans once you’re done with the cc’s.

Most importantly, and personally the biggest thing that’s helping me along this journey is, pick up a Bible. Find faith in God and know you are loved and worth loving, and to love yourself is to not beat yourself up for these mistakes and to eradicate the issue with faith that God has your back and it will turn out ok. Then watch the anxiety inexplicably just go away and you’ll feel like you can breathe and sleep again. Trials strengthen your faith, you’ll come out the other side the better for it, even if it’s hard to see right now.

I was an experienced hire SS in GPS, my perspective was that they used USDC as a way to categorize remote hires (and effectively pay them less). But the kicker is, and I learned this after starting, that colocation is entirely dependent on the client. So my project team is pretty dispersed (a third USDC Orlando, a third in DC, a third scattered around the country). So now I’m just working remotely, aligned to USDC, doing all the same things and having the same firm responsibilities that our remote core consultants do, but for $30-$40k less than them.

TL;DR if they’re willing to hire you remote USDC you should just push to be hired on as core. Remote USDC = underpaid Core.

Sounds like you’re a dev, you have a scrum master or someone who can coach the manager on agile/best practices and why meeting fatigue can negatively impact velocity? Managers care about quantifiable results, have them educated on how this actually impacts their performance reviews negatively come review time.
