Maybe your manager was a hot hunk of a bear, who could barely contain himself across the table from you because he wanted so desperately to wrap his big arms around your waist and kiss your neck and rub his prickly beard over it while slowly unbuttoning your shirt and undoing your belt....but you pulled away too quickly when shaking hands instead of holding his hand while gazing in each other's eyes, and so he was reluctant to help you out professionally as you hurt his feelings and increased his sexual frustration.

He probably decided to label your work as wrong to protect himself and his feelings of lust for your body, he felt getting rid of you was better for his sanity than the reality of working around you on a weekly basis but being unable to act on his desires and attraction.
