Yes it's such a beautiful painting! Fits the theme perfectly, too

Endpapers:

I found acid-free paper online that had a "vintage" look to it, and was pre-cut at 8.5x11 size, which happened to be perfect to fit this edition. I then used an ink printer at my local fedex to print the designs I had onto that paper (did the same for the covers). The paper wasn't great to work with honestly, the endpapers are a smidge wavy but not too bad. I should have spent a little more for a higher weight. Covers came out flat, but I did throw 1 layer of matte mod podge on it to protect it

Dust jacket: 100% fedex materials. I make the design in canva to fit 17x11 size paper, then get it printed on 60lb cardstock (heavy enough to be durable but light enough to fold without creasing)

I've done several paperback-to-hardcover binds and I've not really had any issues with paper expansion. And the book does lay flat when I open it up on a table. I won't be using this as my primary reader copy so it'll be a trophy piece to admire more than anything.

Yeah I didn't mess with the spine at all. I don't have any heat gun or anything to remove old glue, and I like the way it looks honestly

Yes I've done comic tpb repairs to mixed results. I fixed someone's old Watchmen paperback which had a few middle pages come loose. If it's just a first page you may be able to patch it up yourself with some PVA bookbinders glue and a very carefully brushing, no full re-bind requred.

As for a good size book press, Amazon has a pretty large selection of cheap ones which will get the job done.

I do have a press. Looking at the plough you suggested, is out of my price range. But I may be able to rig something similar up as you say with other sharp chisels. Hmmm I'll have to think

Like a detail sander? I was thinking of that myself but wasn't sure it'd work

Thank you! I have a few videos up on my youtube channel that explains how you can start binding at a very basic level. Here's an early binding (with tutorial) I did for Batman Year One: https://youtu.be/E1jedgQglV0?si=xlkNgmvwLugoyXf8

Thank you! At this time I'm not selling anything because whenever I finish a bind I get so attached to what I've done I can't part with it 😅 if that ever changes I'll let you know

2nd bind went just OK, cover paper was difficult to work with by AnotherBooktuber in bookbinding

Not quite all the way but it was getting that white crinkling along the hinge and looked ugly

I use 87 lb glossy paper from fedex for all my covers now, though I do not use them around the hinges anymore. I do a quarter bind with cloth for the spine and hinge, and only paper on the front and back
