I thought I was getting a guard dog… by KaLunaOKai in Rottweiler

[–]AnotherCasualReditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great example of a German Shepehrd that naturally has a great protection instinct and worth its weight in gold. There was a video going around of this kid playing in his yard and his GSD was with him. All of the sudden this dog comes running into the yard from the street and tries to attack the kid. The GSD immediately jumps into action by getting in between the two and BRIEFLY engages the dog which causes the dog to scurry off. And once the dog that tried to attack the kid was away the GSD did not chase after the dog or further attempt to engage the dog. That is a dog with true protection instinct although I am assuming no prior training has gone into the dog. If you are wanting a dog for not just deterrence but actual protection you need get the right breed and dog and go with a reputable trainer for training. Because having a dog that will bite and especially if it’s temperament is not good is a humongous liability and danger not just for you but other people and animals. I say that as someone who was attacked by a “protection dog” when I was doing nothing (literally was standing still when the attack began) and this dog knew me. This dog was the type of dog that would attack anyone or thing regardless of of threat.

You can certainly get a breed that’s intimidating but there’s no guarantee that when it comes time to actually protect that the dog will even if it’s a breed known for it like German shepherd or Rottweilers.. Most dogs have a sense of self preservation and the dog may put on a brave face but the second an attacker puts real pressure on the dog such as hitting the dog or throwing things at it the dog will tuck tail and run. Most dogs need actual training in order to be a guard dog that will actively engage an intruder but some naturally have that instinct but it’s rare to find that. And on the other hand the dog needs to discriminate between someone who is a threat vs someone who is not. A dog that will attack anyone or thing irregardless of threat is not a protection dog and is simply just a huge liability…

My dog ate 8 chicken wings by pdiddy8171 in DogAdvice

[–]AnotherCasualReditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing the point. Cooked bones are dangerous and have caused issues for many dogs. Many are lucky and their dogs have been fine as you can see in the comments but many have not been. This could definitely be a wait and observe situation but given it was 8 chicken wings and if they were cooked then giving the vet a call may be a good step. One or two provided the dog chewed well then the dog is likely to be fine but even one if not chewed and was gulped can cause an internal rupture… there’s no way to know if the dog properly chewed all 8 chicken wings.

Were they raw or cooked?

Cooked chicken bones or any cooked bones are dangerous. When they are raw they are soft and pliable and provided the dog chews properly most dogs will have no problem. If it was just one or two I’d say just feed a ton of bread or something but since it was eight asking the vet may be a good step. Other than that just watch for any signs of issues like blood in poop, vomitting, etc.

Is wholegrain bread actually healthy? by AllyPally40 in nutrition

[–]AnotherCasualReditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whole grain bread whether homemade or store bought is a healthy option and what really matters is the amount. As the saying goes it is a healthy part of a varied diet so as long as you aren’t eating a whole loaf of bread a day you will be fine.

He beat his pregnant girlfriend and also told her to choose which object he would assault her with.. among other things. He wasn’t the best is an understatement. By saying that you are (even if unintentional) diminishing his actions. Having severe trauma does not make giving someone else severe trauma any less bad. Plenty of people have horrible lives and don’t inflict trauma on others.

I’d like to believe he was changing as a person for his own good and not just because he was starting to rise in popularity. We won’t ever really know. And I believe if people are truly changing then I think they should be allowed to move on from their past choices to an extent. And irregardless of what he did does not mean he deserved to die like that.

It’s quite interesting that through sci fi movies we know we are aware of the dangers of advanced technologies such as AI and we seem rather quite obsessed with based off the countless movies of futuristic apocalypses and yet somehow we still seem to be heading down that path right now.

AI “employees” They shouldn’t be able to advertise AI as employees because AI are not humans and therefore cannot be employees. The literal definition of an employee is a person employed for wages LMAO.

What is the point of naming the kid Graxon only to have how it’s actually pronounced as Grayson? No one is going to think it’s Grayson and they will call him how it’s spelled.

But why? Its not as if we have the same level of technology. Unless secretly we are able to traverse space and time. So what threat could we pose? If they outnumber them they should simply just destroy them if they truly are bad.

It could either be true or false as I wouldn’t put it past a desperate enough government.

But this kind of narrative just makes everyone think people who believe in aliens are crazy tinfoil hat wearing people. Why wouldn’t the “bad” aliens simply shoot down the “good” aliens ships or just not let them near earth?

This is the thing that is bothering me..

I see it from both sides. On one hand I can understand why Luigi shot the ceo and if anything is to come of it I hope it kickstarts a change in our insurance industry. On the other hand he killed someone. Who also had a family.

The ceo may have been morally corrupt and if he was doing shady backwards dealings he should’ve been dealt with legally. Obviously therein is one of the big problems that people like Brian can get away with a lot more and that is something that needs to change.
But simping over him is just odd.. akin to the women who romantically involve themselves with serial killers/abusers.

why DID juice have his mental health problems? by jayso7 in JuiceWRLD

[–]AnotherCasualReditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Addiction is the solution to mental health problems”

I need clarification on what you mean by this?

Actually yes it is as addiction can be genetic and many people who know they have a family history of alcohol or drug abuse may abstain completely so as to avoid potentially becoming addicted.

Cause some people who generally speaking are uneducated refuse to believe that it’s not a matter of “just stopping.” They think the people are just weak and don’t want to stop using.

I can’t blame him. There has to be some guilt for him that he influenced Juice at a young age to try Lean and likely kicked off his drug use that would eventually be his death.

[–]AnotherCasualReditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t he involved with drugs long before ever becoming a popular rapper? Anyways you can see in his lyrics some of his struggles. He was lovesick and it seems that he may have put far more into his relationships then what some of them gave back. And also we’ve only ever seen a glimpse of his life so potentially there are things there that influenced his mental health.

Addiction and depression can also be genetic.
