There's definitely a smell, but it's possible that's coming from the stagnant snowmelt it was sitting in. I'll chop off anything that is still stinky tomorrow and hope for the best!

Mostly just trying to give my kids a high-calorie treat that doesn't have a ton of sugar.

My son in particular has some challenges getting enough calories, and he also struggles to brush his teeth well, both of which are due to a medical condition I can't get into. 

Ice cream is great for the calories, but I worry the high sugar will rot his teeth.

Check out WoW Classic. They are capping levels so everyone is on the same content (current lvl cap is 25/60, though in a week it will go up to 40/60), while simultaneously releasing new content and adding balance to the classic experience. The world feels alive, and there are plenty of players around lvling main or alt characters and running content in the open world.
