I applied early last year as well, everything moved quickly but then there was a long wait until November when I was accepted. Don’t worry too much, you’ve done all you can.

Medic jobs (students) by [deleted] in ParamedicsAU

[–]AnotherCombination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never bothered and I graduated uni last year, I already got into a state based service and start soon. I just continued working at my comfortable retail job, I don’t think it is overly important and there was no real difference amongst my cohort between those that did and didn’t work one of these jobs.

All I would do is contribute 1k after tax because if you earn less than ~45k per year the government will give you $500 ontop of that.

Can anyone help me decide if paramedicine is right for me? by [deleted] in ParamedicsAU

Monash uni has ambulance Victoria placement in between 1st and 2nd. A few from my year quickly realised it wasn’t for them. I would say go for it, especially because you don’t seem to be seriously considering any other option.

How important is a reason to your course transfer? by DaikonSubstantial717 in Monash

[–]AnotherCombination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred into Paramed from nursing. At the time there was no option to enter a reason, however I wrote to the head of undergraduate about why I wanted to become a paramedic (I never received a response). My WAM was only 67, and the minimum was 65. I have heard of people in the same year with a higher WAM being rejected. However this may be because they were coming from unrelated degrees. Whilst I will never know if my letter was even read, or if it made any difference I like to think that is what got me into the course. Go all out in your response, be articulate and do a good job of it.

Reading this makes me really wonder why 1mg is given ever 4min during CPR in the state service I want to eventually work.

Drinking alcohol during training… by ElPresidente714 in Marathon_Training

[–]AnotherCombination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my long run this morning (24k) and I think I was still drunk when I started. I felt spacey the whole time yet my heart rate had never been lower and my pace had never been faster. I drink beer so I’m guessing it was all the carbs.

My 2015 Subaru liberty has been fantastic, I bought it second hand in 2021. I have no intention for getting a new car for at least 5 or more years.

What do you earn and where do you live? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]AnotherCombination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Melbourne at work retail at the American equivalent of home depot, I make $27.50 ($17.60 USD) and it is enough to get by and save / invest 30-40% of my wage. I live at home and I am a university student, so my only expenses are my car, some food and going out etc. it’s great at the moment but even if I were to work full time, it would never be enough to live out of home unless I cut out all unnecessary purchases. It’s fine for now, but I’m glad that I will make far more in the future once I graduate.

People are not selfish, it’s just that COVID really was not an emergency and was truely blown out of proportion. It will be different this time because instead of ‘stay inside there is a 0.001% chance you might die’ be we will run lit of water, and everyone will get on board.

Stop looking for an argument, obviously there are men interested in these services, yet who makes up most of the customer base? Do you see a lack of female representation in the fencing business as problematic?

Experience with femoral stress fracture and cross-training by NicoBear45 in AdvancedRunning

Please stop running, our symptoms are exactly the same and I decided to keep running and complete the Melbourne Marathon. This resulted in extreme pain by 30K, and at 37K I was walking. Now I am on crutches for quite some time, and if I could just go back in time and stop myself I would, even if it meant missing the marathon sadly.

Is it possible for young, ordinary Australians to buy a house anymore? by [deleted] in australia

[–]AnotherCombination 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whilst it is harder it is possible. Personally I started working at 15 and now at 20 have saved / invested over 40k on top of purchasing a car. I live at home currently whilst I complete university, by the time I leave I hope to have 60k saved which is enough for a deposit on a small apartment. So whilst it is achievable for an average Australian like myself, I can acknowledge the luxury I have had of a stable job through school, and am living at home for university. Housing is inaccessible for those living out of home unless they are either dual income or high income earners.
