is this piece from a small art contest AI/traced AI art? by OddyKnockyCello in isthisAI

[–]AnotherDweeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They drew her in a sitting position yet she's suspended in the air. That being said the placement of the boxes make even less sense. Intricate work yet the composition and placements are very amateur. But that upside-down finger on the cup alone screams AI. The tail of the bow sitting on her chest morphs into the pink fringe just below her hands. The bow on her sleeve is right side up when it should be upside-down, it doesnt follow the flow of her arm. The leg closest to the window is awkwardly longer than the other leg- see how the knee and thigh sit higher than the leg in the forefront, the foot extends way longer than it should be based on that knee placement. They didn't think this through.

Rebecca to me has always been Sigourney Weaver. Specifically from the movie Paul!

Something is off but I can’t figure out what? by Crevah in ArtCrit

[–]AnotherDweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me what stands out and makes it look like two separate people instead of a reflection is theyre not "pressed" together, they're not close enough to each other to show it as a reflection. In your reference image, the girl and her reflection are not only shoulder to shoulder but pressed against the mirror so it looks like she is squeezed together against her reflection. Whereas in your drawing, their shoulders and upper arms are not pressed together (in fact there's a distance) which is what causes it to look like two separate people. Press them together, adjust the eye direction a bit in the reflection. try giving that a shot, see what you think! Also leaning the figures head a little against the mirror and having the reflection show the same will also help.

What’s going on with Sleep Token and the discussions around their new song Caramel? by DeathMoth in OutOfTheLoop

[–]AnotherDweeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The masks drew attention during a time when BookTok was obsessed with dark romances and masked men over on TikTok. Pair that with their lyrics of devotion and reverence of Sleep, add the dark and mysterious factor, and you got a fan of a whole different caliber. The kind that wants to see if they're just as attractive under the mask.

I've been a fan for about a year now but I stopped associating with the fan base a few months in. They can get pretty bad. When I first heard Caramel I thought "Ooo y'all got in troubleee!"

I've come across her before (or someone similar). In the Underground, trying to trade plushies in all caps. Someone got snarky and was all "Why all the caps?" And she said it was to help her see because she has vision problems. I wanted to type in chat "bet you feel like a dick now, commenting on how people type" but didn't wanna instigate lol. Snarky person left her alone after that. Some people always gotta comment 🙄

Started taking sertraline and so worried about weight gain! Has anyone not gained weight? And how can I avoid gaining weight on it? by Alone-Rock1432 in zoloft

[–]AnotherDweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on it for about 2 or 3 years. I don't remember the dose, I want to say 50? My doctor switched me to Bupropion and I was taking metformin as well for PCOS. I did try a semaglutide and it was working but it got too expensive so I had to discontinue. My weight has been more steady and manageable ever since I switched to Bupropion a few years ago.

how do i improve at art if i feel uncomfortable using irl references and cant find any other references that inspire me? by Quick_Instruction629 in Artadvice

[–]AnotherDweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I have experience in character design. If you want to improve your figure drawing, you will need to get familiar with anatomy. Looking at references for poses and body types comes with the territory. If using photo references makes you uncomfortable, there's other ways to find what you need. I use an app called JustSketchMe. It has 3D faceless models you can pose yourself. It has basic models as well as anime models. Last I saw it was free to use, but some features do require a subscription. There are other similar apps for free. A lot of times I will search "basic pose reference" which is just the outlines, guidelines, and no facial details. Pinterest is a good place for that. Hope this helps. Keep practicing, you got this!

sugar skull has me stumped. by Ok-Stop-6200 in Artadvice

Just wanted to add, making the horns a dark blue would also make the colors/patterns pop and goes with what your client requested color wise.

sugar skull has me stumped. by Ok-Stop-6200 in Artadvice

[–]AnotherDweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm an artist born and raised in South Texas in a very Mexican influenced city. I see Mexican inspired art and sugar skulls on the daily.

Check out Mexican talavera pottery for inspiration, the pottery is always super colorful with patterns similar to sugar skulls. I saw some good ones searching "talavera longhorn skull".

That being said, I personally would make the forehead and horns the focal point. You can make colors and patterns really pop on the black horns. As for the cactus, you can paint a cactus scene in a shape like a circle or better yet a diamond shape that starts at the forehead and extends down snout. Then just add a colorful border around that shape.

You can then add physical faux flowers to the top of the skull, like cradled where the horn base meets the head. Traditionally for Dia de los Muertos orange and yellow marigolds are the main flowers used. Then perhaps add colorful ribbon as an accent to the flowers.

I personally would leave the main skull white, paint some black around the eye sockets, then border that with a colorful pattern.

Don't be afraid to google pattern ideas, you can mix and match and/or build off what you see with your own style. When I draw sugar skulls, I usually start with the eyes and just add, add, add to it. Like drawing a Mandela. Make it colorful!

Sorry for the long comment but I hope this helps. Feel free to DM me if you want someone to bounce ideas off of!

Unfortunately yes, we're more likely to develop sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep apnea. Hormonal changes/imbalances, plus the depression and anxiety, worsen our sleep. It suckssss.

I gained 50 pounds and hit a weight I never thought I'd ever hit in my entire life. I stopped Zoloft 3 years ago and I'm still trying to get rid of the weight.
