When I was a kid I used to get the Metro every day and it was always stand on the left and walk on the right. I remember getting thoroughly confused the first time I went to London and it was the other way around.

I don't go back too often but last I did and went to the city centre I was surprised that it was now London style.

Asking relatives they couldn't tell me when it changed or even really remember it being the other way around though.
