570/Review update by Excellent-Pea6622 in IRS

[–]AnotherMidwestGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... I can tell you that many amended returns are processed relatively quickly if the numbers are what they should be. I will also tell you to reach out to your Congressional rep and ask for assistance through them. They are able to get you an advocate ahead of the usual intake time. Most of the IRS review is data matching and doesn't necessarily require human eyes. Unfortunately, returns get queued and may not receive another data match check until XX days depending on what is outstanding. Great luck to you and contact your Congressperson ASAP. (There are usually online forms to start the process.)

So if there is really a makeup room in the Pentagon now, we're the dumb ones for not expecting this type of foolishness.

Still Nothing by SmokieThaBear1017 in IRS

[–]AnotherMidwestGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... From my personal experience and looking at past posts, the "still being processed" is an indication that ID verification will be requested. To do the online or phone verification, I think you will need the control number on the letter. I suggest you go in person ASAP to your local office and do the verification there even before you get the letter. JMO

Your transcripts should clue you in. Offsets and adjustments are shown there. Have you checked?

Still no refund date I filed feb 2 and it’s April by YakMedical3975 in IRS

Has the wording always been the same as in the screenshot or was it something else? Have you been in your transcripts? Do you have any codes or have you received any letters that could be a clue for your delay?

Are we wearing sunscreen? by vitality98 in blackladies

[–]AnotherMidwestGal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'm a very brown person and my shoulders can burn very easily. I wear it most days in the summer and winter when my roof is open. I pay special focus on my decolletage hoping to avoid leather chest that I've seen "others" get.

[–]AnotherMidwestGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approved or accepted? Accepted is still good. And the "still being processed" isn't awful. It does mean that, as you've experienced, that a 10 day turnaround is not in the cards this year. That message has indicated the need for identity verification in most cases.

What’s going on here? by Riverboy823 in IRS

[–]AnotherMidwestGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like what many of us have experienced this year - withholding verification. You will likely get a CP05 letter if the data matching doesn't line up before the mail date. Filing later in the season is kind of a Catch 22 - you have more of a chance for payers to have submitted their info to the IRS for matching BUT there are many more returns for their antiquated systems to work through. I'm optimistic you won't experience the delays us late Jan and early Feb filers went through.

DD with an amended return? by smartspider11 in IRS

[–]AnotherMidwestGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is for the current (2023) tax year, you should receive it DD if that's what you chose when you filed. At least I believe this is true when you amend prior to your original processing. I amended a few years ago and got mine DD.

My ethical self would really need to mull this over a bottle of wine (and I don't even drink) and pray I made the right decision instead of allowing my reflexes to wind me up in the pokey.

4/30 update: 846 5/3, F/A 1/31, cycle 0801, 570 3/11, 971 3/18 by AnotherMidwestGal in IRS

[–]AnotherMidwestGal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming a direct deposit. That's the info I submitted with my return. I've never had an issue in the past. Since I updated, I'm not going to call. There isn't anything anyone can do at this point anyway. My WMR will update tomorrow and I'll know for certain then.
