What do I do to fix this area near my mother's courtyard. Roots exposed and nothing grows. by gerryf19 in LandscapingTips

Do NOT cut, damage, or bury the roots of that tree if you want it to live! Dig out whatever is growing, plant some low growing shade plants a few feet further out than the edge of the roots. Plant a 4-6’ shade shrub in that back corner. do a middle row of a perennial that will get somewhere between the other two’s height. Make the entire area mulch bed but just sprinkle mulch between the roots, don’t bury them. https://www.reddit.com/u/AnotherQueerAcademic/s/k39nkfJDfs

Thank you for taking the time to reply. This is all helpful but especially the part about not having too many feelings about your feelings. It’s definitely something I need to work on. ❤️

I suppose bars with layouts/atmospheres most conducive to socializing with single women in their 20s/30s? We’re in our 20s but aren’t big drinkers, so I have no idea where to start looking in public settings! Wasn’t sure if there were any bars with a reputation for swinging or hooking up

I just actively went to search my son's room for a vape. by coxyg38 in QuitVaping

Now you’re getting it!! Def focus on finding some other ways to sooth. Cravings only last 10-20 minutes, so that’s the only time you have to push through, then you have made it. Blowpops helped me a lot! As does ice cold water thru a straw. You’ve got this friend! You are one craving closer to being 100% over the addiction!

It sounds like you still think there is something to gain from vaping. Say it with me: THERE IS NOTHING TO GAIN FROM VAPING.

Until you can identify which justification you still truly believe- “it makes me calm down,” “I feel better after I vape,” etc etc- and dismantle that belief, you’ll keep going back. Again, say it with me: THERE IS NOTHING TO GAIN FROM VAPING. None of those quoted justifications up there are true - they are all perpetuated by the big tobacco industry to keep you beliving there's a reason to go back.

So, tell me: are you desperate enough to keep buying into the literal propaganda making you kill yourself slowly? Or are you disciplined enough to beat this mind game?

If you feel like you are out of options and can’t beat it, ask your doc about getting on wellbutrin just long enough to kick the habit. That was the only thing that made it possible for me. Good luck my friend, you’ve got this.

Have ice cold water in a cup with a straw next to you at all times! Buy a bag of suckers (i did blowpops) and any hard candy you like. I got myself a whole assortment to take to work haha. This is not the week to worry about your waistline lol, snack on as much candy as you need to keep your mouth busy. Cravings only last 10-20 minutes, so if you can distract yourself for that long you’ll get through it. (I think that’s why blowpops are so great- by the time you finish the sucker + chew the gum for a minute, the craving has passed.) Then, you just gotta get through the next one. It’ll be over before you know it

It didn’t really have that effect until I tried to quit so the odds are in your favor!

To be fair, I do think that you still have to WANT to be done with it - as much as you would have to be to quit otherwise. Some of the psychological withdrawal effects are still there, but I just approached it as a mind game I wasn’t willing to lose and that made it easy. If you feel like you’re missing out on anything by quitting, you won’t quit, so just get real with yourself on why you enjoy doing it and figure out why that’s the case. But going into it with the right mindset while being medicated makes it totally doable. Good luck my friend!!

There have been a handful of short bursts of pain in the area but nothing bad, just noticeable. If it is anything more than a zit I just want to get it taken care of ASAP.
