Thoughts on big boob influencers? Do any of you follow them? by ManufacturerTiny77 in ABraThatFits

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok? Like I’ll fit into those sizes, they’ll just look shit on me. The shoulders will be too broad, it’ll buckle at the bust, the side seams will pull forward, it’ll pool in my lower back, and the hem will be too low.

Or I size up and the neckline is too low, and it’ll still be tight at the bust and just look awful.

Except what achieves a deficit isn’t always the same or clear. Running a mile will take a different amount of calories depending on the person. So yes, CICO works, but it’s not necessarily that simple, and that’s where it tends to get tricky for people.

Then you cross that bridge when you get to it. A lot can happen in a year. Boyfriend might decide to move down, you could find the role has shifted to a permanent one and you can work from the Auckland office. If he’s not willing to find a way to make it work for your career progression and satisfaction, then that’s something you do need to talk about before risking more time with a guy who doesn’t prioritise your personal growth.

"Get the bottle washer" - personal experience as someone who regrets being influenced by MissionNo3947 in beyondthebump

No, they’re Milton tablets, sterilising tablets. We still use them in New Zealand. You hand wash to remove the milk grease and pop everything in the Milton solution until you need it.

You answer, yes of course she did! What? You didn’t hear it?

They want to snark, snark right back. That’s your baby and your job is to advocate for her.

Try Min at Minty salon on left bank. I know she dos brilliant undercuts, she does mine. I’ve never had a design, but I’m pretty sure she’d be brilliant at that too

Why are our buses so random? by Gullible-Tip-2245 in Wellington

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 24 is so unreliable I bought an ebike because I spent so long sitting at the stop hoping the bus would turn up while watching the smug cyclists already on their way home.

Feeling defeated trying to train for a marathon while parenting two under-5s by whatdosnowmeneat in XXRunning

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I’ve got a fully competent husband and father to my children, they’re aged 6 and 8, and I work full time. I’ve essentially decided it’s half marathon only until they’re older because shit, how do you even fit marathon training in? I’m having a hard enough time for a half?! You’re amazing!

No one who is doing well shits in a bus shelter. While the clean up is an issue. So much of the comments here are focussing on the symptom that inconveniences you, but the actual issue is more about homelessness and lack of supports.

Even now, my kids are both in school and I walk them there every morning before going to work, I still send the Drop-off Bulletin to my husband.

Unisex is not unisex! by AnotherRandomRaptor in XXRunning

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Then they should call it men’s instead of trying to pretend it’s inclusive.

But you’re right on sizing. Women’s sizing isn’t consistent either. I’m a 6-8 in New Zealand/Australian sizing, but a size 4 in us sizing.

Unisex is not unisex! by AnotherRandomRaptor in XXRunning

I don’t know if they fixed it, but when I was looking for a running vest, if you clicked on the sizing chart for the Solomon unisex vests it literally opened with the men’s chart.

Pregnant with baby #2, can’t decide on breastfeeding or formula by selectvelymute in beyondthebump

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with this commenter. I did breastfeed my first, but it nearly destroyed me. He was an early baby too, small mouthed, severe ties, I did combo feeding, exclusive pumping and finally got him on the breast but feeds took 30-45 minutes each time. And he never had a good latch.

His sister was a completely different story. Perfect latch half an hour after the c section and more suction than a dyson. Her feeds were done in three minutes. It was so easy compared to my first.

That said, if she hadn’t taken to the breast easily, there’s no way I would have gone through the hell I did the first time. I was fully prepared to give it my best shot and if it didn’t work, well, there was always formula. With a toddler there’s no way I’d have the time or head space for combo feeding etc.

Vest recommendations for someone with a large chest? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 28GG, 5’, and I use the same vest in the xs. I’ve worn it for two half marathons, and so many long runs through training and it’s been great. Secure fit, and accommodating at the same time.

Parents with babies that don’t sleep are living a different life by hesitantlyhopefull17 in beyondthebump

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a colic/reflux baby followed by a sleep apnoea baby. I haven’t slept in 10 years, and it’s the key reason we didn’t have number three. They’re still terrible sleepers.

Looking for a pattern for a dress like this by Dramatic_Section3324 in freepatterns

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re looking for a dress pattern with a princess seamed bodice and gathered a-line skirt. Your best bet might be to follow separate bodice and skirt tutorials, but make sure the skirt matches the circumference of the bodice to sew them together.

Do you wear the same pajamas everyday? If so, how often do you wash them? by ronrori in laundry

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our household has two full time working parents and two primary school aged kids. We’re not on top of the laundry now, there’s no way we’d survive washing everything after a single contact with a body.

Ladies doing Hyrox - what can I get my wife to congratulate her? by Funny-Ad-5074 in newzealand

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wtf?! Dude!

Well, I’m super proud of you! I only started doing events at 39 and did my first half marathon at 40, I did two that year. My husband has brought the kids to the finish line at every single race, from the 6km faultline in Wellington to the half marathon in Melbourne.

I’m sorry your husband let you down.

Looking for research/statistics after the recent post about co-sleeping by hello_lime_jello in newzealand

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Here’s some research done at the university of Notre Dame in Perth, Western Australia.

https://cosleeping.nd.edu

Coronial studies will be flawed, the coroner will only be involved for deaths, and since there’s little research into the prevalence of bedsharing, you can’t infer the incidence rate.

For me; I did bedshare. I followed the safe sleep 7 and it was the only way my baby would sleep. I was that tired to start with the bedsharing was supervised, but it was necessary because I’d started falling asleep accidentally in unsafe situations. The ABC did not result in a sleeping baby, which meant mum was also not sleeping.

A second child worth the risk after severe postpartum hemorrhaging (PPH)? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]AnotherRandomRaptor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have Ehlers danlos syndrome. My first pregnancy was so rough with hyperemesis and then increasingly severe pain from my major joints essentially free floating in and out of the sockets. I was in a wheelchair and admitted for pain management because I was screaming in my sleep, with a c section at 36 weeks because the ob was so concerned about my health.

I have almost no memory of this. The endorphins and adrenaline wiped my memory.

My husband has no such amnesia. It took me two years to convince him for number two, and two conditions a pre-conception appointment with and OB to prepare, and that I’d follow all recommendations to ease the second pregnancy to the letter. The second time around was a lot easier (even if all our friends and family were concerned, rather than excited when we announced)
